Its decent, I played it on my bro's computer today. Definitely different than the original, but still pretty cool IMO.

 

I was clinically addicted to the first one. I think I played it for 7 days straight everyday after school and beat it .. then never touched it again

 

i wanna get it for the ps2 ASAP ... only game i have truely been anticipating ... well and halo 2 ...

you could beat the first one with a crappy car, i hope this one is more simulation like IE if the the computer slams into a wall, he somehow wont be able to go 300mph and catch up to you.

Think of Grand Theft Auto and how it lets you explore the city mixed with racing.

And best of all, its more realistic, especially in terms of parts. You can dyno and fine tune your ride

in addition to nfsu 2, there is also burnout 3 which is a completely different yet strangely satisfying 'racing' game in which u compete for takedowns and damage to intersections

 

Why didn't you turn off the catch up feature?

 

You couldn't turn it off in the pc version, which made the game incredibly annoying at times.

Once I have it, (and scan it to make sure it is free of viruses and spyware. Which I will not be responsible for spreading) which should be later today. I can let some people download it from my server. Bittorrent has been a little slow in the download. But when I left for work this morning it was at 92%.

Just bought the game but won't be playing it until I finish my project - these forums are too addicting as it is! Did play the demo though and the cars sound much better and handle a bit more realistically. Can't wait to see what it's like to free roam through the whole city though.

 

Is the upgrading/tuning/whatevering of the cars less linear before? That was my biggest complaint I think. All of the sudden you could do a few different things, and you HAD to do them before you could move on, and they were always easy to afford too, so its not like you had to pick one and leave others for later. Is it still like that?

That was so annoying.

It also doesn't matter if they crashed. After I beat the game and had a fully pimped out GT-R I rolled back the race counter to the first race and the stock miata driven by the computer could keep up with me.

I'm not expecting the game to have simulation type phisics but at least make it somewhat plausible.

 

this game is great. I didn't have much time to play last night so I just took a GTO out and just drove around in the "Free run" mode - physics are pretty nice and car is quite controllable even in a slide. will have to play more 2nite...
