i had older computer with vista premium, and my brother has old computer with XP.

He has mapped drive.

I could see that drive on my pc and we shared folders and all.

Now I got new Pc in my room with Vista Basic. I CAN NOT GET THE DAMN MAPPED DRIVE TO SHOW ON MY PC SO I CAN GET MY STUFF BACK.

help please...

 

can you manually address it ( \\computer_name\share_name ) ?

 

I changed the mapped network drive letter and name on bro's pc. I connected my old pc, and it worked instantly.

The way I was doing it is. Go to my computer, then on top chose map network drive, chose the letter and fill in the info.

And it does not work. Does it matter that its VISTA BASIC not PREMIUM?

 

I will first try turning off the firewall from your new computer to see if that makes any difference.

 

Sorry, I have no idea on Vista. I just started running it and I have ultimate.
