Lost Planet - New Capcom game for 360

New Capcom game announced for the 360 created by Inafune (creator of Mega Man, etc..).
The crazy part is that these are all in-game graphics, not CGI cut scenes. Looks awesome. I can't wait!

CAPCOM Co., Ltd. and the Microsoft Corporation are pleased to announce the upcoming sci-fi action shooter, “Lost Planet”, for the Xbox 360 scheduled for release in next winter.

“Lost Planet” will feature Mr. Lee Byung Hun, an active South Korean actor known for his roles in various movies and dramas, as the model for the main character. Mr. Lee Byung Hun, already a top star in his own country, will be bringing his fascinating presence and talent to the world of “Lost Planet”.

“Lost Planet” is a sci-fi action shooter whose main character, after being saved by the Snow Pirates, goes on what remains of his memory to seek revenge against his father's betrayers through dangerous terrain and wildlife, while finding out the hidden truths behind this frozen planet. Through visually stunning graphics, the player will be fully immersed in a world of mystical beauty a breathtaking snowy planet with blinding snowstorms, crumbling buildings in ruin, and epic battles with gigantic aliens that inhabit the land.

With the combination of CAPCOM's uniquely creative development team and the graphical prowess of the Xbox 360, consumers worldwide can look forward to experiencing a truly dynamic and immersive world with graphics that set the bar even higher for realism, from the hyper-realistic characters to the world-class CG cut-scenes. We at CAPCOM look forward to bringing even more novel and original content to gamers in the future on this new and exciting cutting-edge technology.

The Xbox 360 will be the first Next-Generation Game System for sale in Japan. With its support for high-definition resolution, surround-sound, a user-friendly on-line service, an ease and flexibility in customization along with other services, the Xbox 360 really brings the player the all-new Next-Generation digital entertainment experience that is “high-definition entertainment”. CAPCOM's new game, “Lost Planet”, is being developed for this new powerful Next-Generation system.

That's some nice looking shots, but a bit overuse of blur.

In motion, you don't notice the blur. It's the same way in PGR3.. In pictures it looks like way too much blur, but in motion it looks perfect. It's almost like taking a still picture of your finger moving back and forth really fast. It would be blurry but in motion it looks realistic.

Played the demo, the physics are sick. Aliens don't do much for me though.

If they took the general concept of the game, the physics, the graphics, and bundled it in a more traditional FPS... it'd probably be the best ever.

And here's hoping that gameplay is not lost behind all that glitz and glam graphics...

Funny... my thoughts exactly. I liked walking through the snow more than shooting those stupid alien pods everywhere.

This game is sick (in a good way). I have both the online and offline demos off of XBL and both rule.

The game is coming out Jan.12 2007!

I'll add this to the list of games to look into when I get a 360 later this year.

Just wondering what control quirks you have with it?

Many control settings are adjustable in the "Back" button menu.

As per the review:

"For some reason, you can't point your gun straight up in the air. With plenty of enemies in the game requiring you to attack them as they fly or stand above you, this oversight requires you to constantly back pedal as you try to get your barrel pointed at their weak point that sits above your head."
This is a glaring fault with the game, but I will rent it to see how it really impacts combat for myself.

friend bought it and came over and played last night.

definately looks like it could be fun.

i have no interest in the single player. it's very half-life'ish, not my style.

the multiplayer looks like it will be fun once people figure out wtf they're supposed to be doing

maps are freakin' huge

so i beat the first 2 levels.

Only complaints thus far is that everything seems to be far away in regards to shooting. Also, my character seems to move a bit slower than id like , in terms of viewing and shooting, but aside from that game is great.

well, ya, you run slow cuz your in snow. but everything in the game is kinda "slow", like turning around.

im sure you can tweak the controls though, and there is a fast turn button.

but something about that distant third person view makes things feel a bit odd.

I 100 % agree. It just seems so far away, it sort of hurts my eyes. I have to see how the story developes.

Im not quite sure. I cant really explain it, i just feel distant from alot of stuff thats all. I wish they had a better zoom method, but aside from that it's still alot of fun.

I think it's worth picking up, especially since the multiplayer seems promising.

Im on the last boss of the game. Anyone else enjoy this game as much as i did? I thought the story was a bit confusing/corny, but the game itself was loads of fun.
