internet question
internet question
hi
i was wondering...
when i look at my WIRELESS internet connection status,
it says it's connected at
Speed: 11mbps
when i run speed tests from various websites i get about a number far below that. Even when i connect to the internet by ethernet cables it says that I am connected at 100mbps, but doesn't do that speed obviously.
So my question is, these speed numbers dont reflect the actual download speeds right?

right,
The connection windows is monitoring is your connection to the other equipment in your house, whether it be wired router (100Mb), wireless router (11Mb), or directly to your cable or dsl modem (usb or 10/100 ethernet). The speed you get from places like dsl reports is from your cable or dsl modem to your provider, and can vary depending to who you are connecting to .
Sometimes there are tweaks that can be done to get the most out of this connection and you can hunt around at dslreports.com for those, but usually the speed at which you connect to the internet is based on some sort of ancient formula of location and money.
