HELL YEAH!!!!! EA opens Chicago studio!
Best video game (business) news I've heard in a while. I'd been dabbling with getting into video game audio production in the past, i.e. have a portfolio ready etc. but hadn't really focused on it just because of the limited availability and more importantly because of the locations. This is what ive been waiting for! And the office is based downtown! Sure there are other companies - Midway, High Voltage, etc - but this is the first one that really appeals to me. I think its focus-time! Not sure I have "what it takes", but, you don't know if you don't try, right?

Three new titles already in development for PS3 and 360
EA has officially opened the doors to its new Chicago studio, confirming that three titles are already in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Only one of these has been named so far - Def Jam: Icon, a new instalment in the popular series of fighting games. EA would only confirm that one of the other titles is a licensed game, and the other is an additional fighter based on new intellectual property.
Kudo Tsunoda will take on the role of vice present and general manager at EA Chicago, which is based downtown. Many of the studio's 150 staff previously worked on the Fight Night boxing games, and a further 100 employees will be hired over the course of the next year.
"We are pushing next-generation development and technology to the limits and looking for the best talent to help us to create innovative games," Tsunoda said.

EA Opens Development Studio in Chicago
Veteran Development Team Moves to the Windy City to Focus on Next Generation Videogames - Attracts New Talent from the Midwest
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - October 25, 2006 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) the world’s leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment today inaugurated its new studio in downtown Chicago at 215 West Ohio Street. The development team is best known for the hit EA SPORTS™ Fight Night franchise and is currently working on three state-of-the-art games for the PlayStation®3 system and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system including the hip-hop lifestyle game, DEF JAM: ICON™, as well as a licensed title and a new intellectual property in the fighting videogame genre.
EA Chicago is one of the fastest growing studios at EA with 150 employees currently on staff. EA is planning to increase the number of developers by 100 next year.
The city of Chicago offers EA a unique cross-section of talent drawn from across the Midwest. The history, culture and lifestyle draw creative, design and computer science talent from around the country. By placing the studio in the heart of the city, EA is able to draw from this rich talent pool while offering its employees a sophisticated office space with easy access to public transportation and a host of restaurants and entertainment venues in the near vicinity.
“We are pushing next generation development and technology to the limits and looking for the best talent to help us to create innovative games,” said Kudo Tsunoda, Vice President and General Manager, EA Chicago. “We are in a great location downtown in a unique building that gives us access and visibility to the best resources and creative minds of this thriving city.”
"One thing that sets Chicago apart from many other cities is our diverse workforce, which can meet the needs of just about any business," said Mayor Richard M. Daley. "EA Chicago will create new jobs and add to Chicago's reputation as a global center of innovation." "We have talented teams working on our games but we're always looking for new perspective and ideas to consistently push us to be fresh, innovative, and creative," added Tsunoda.

Not to rain on your parade, but be sure to do your research before jumping ship. I'm almost certain that I've come across more than one story about EA treating their employees like complete sh!t.
I hope for your sake I'm wrong. I'd just hate to see you go for your something you've been wanting to do for a while only to end up gettng kicked in the gut.

doesn't matter if EA treats it's employees bad (supposedly) or if you don't like their games... it's still an awesome place to get "your foot in the door"... If, suppose, srika gets this job... and didn't workout in the future... just to have "EA" on his resume will help get him to other places.
I still wish him luck...

They are just about universally the most hated gaming company on the planet.
EA is the LAST place a talented game artist/developer would want to work... unless they're just in it for a good 9-5 salary.
How many of EA's games are even developed in-house these days? Other than the EA Sports division? Nearly all of EA's top games come out of EA-acquired studios.

I'm just mad at EA because they got greedy and I still miss the NFL2K series, which at one time I thought was better than Madden.
