HD-ing my PS2
Well now that I got GT4, I have found out it has an HD capable gameplay. I've moved my PS2 to the entertainment area of the house, which includes a TV hooked up to an HDTV-setup TV. I did some research and found out I needed these..
-Sony SCPH-10100 U
-a component to allow for both the HD box and the above wires to be plugged into the HD inputs of the TV (I think the guy at EB Games said a "component splitter")
He says very few stores carry these products and that I'd have to go to Sony to get them. He did say, however, that it's possible. Can anyone who knows anything on this subject give me some help? FYI, I'm only really looking for HD Video output, so I can deal with the standard Dolby PL II audio output. Thanks in advance for any help.

You dont have to buy the Sony ones.
Monster Cable and Mad Catz both have their own PS2 Component Video Cables.
Currently my PS2 Component Video Cables are laying on the floor behind my TV because I swapped the PS2's Component Out for my HDTV Cable Box's Component out. Have the DVD Player using the other set on the back of my TV and unfortunately only have 2 sets of Component inputs.

You can search your local BB for inventory.

alright, i just got the Sony HD Component wires. To make it perfect, I'd need a splitter, but I'm not going to dish out $100 bucks for that crap. Right now I'm living with unplugging the HD box and replacing it with the PS2's wires. If anyone can tell me where I can get that splitter for a good price (honestly, I feel $50 is good for what you're getting, but the companies don't think that way of course), I'll look into it. Also, I lost any sort of Surround Sound experience because the analog Audio wires are now gone and the HD ones don't fit into the surround sound system's rear (I'd need another optical cable for that). I don't understand why the Surround Sound system doesn't come with a High-Res Video In, that'd make everything work just fine.
If you dont mind posting the model of your Surround Receiver and TV, I can dig a little deeper.
As for the "splitter" I think you really mean a Input Selector so you can plug multiple Sources into one input. (Splitter is usually single input and multiple outputs) Component Video Switchers are more expensive than others because your switching 3 sources that have to maintain a better quality connection. Doesnt mean they arent bending you over on thr prices, but it is a little different than standard 3 source RCA Switchers. I have heard good things about BetterCables.com, but their 2x1 and 4x2 Component Switchers are even more expensive because they do Stereo Audio and Digital Coax Audio at the same time. This obviously doesnt help on the PS2 which is Optical only.

hmm, don't exactly know the exact codes. I do know that the Surround Sound System is the Sony DAV-XXX "Dream System" (4 tower speakers, but 1 below the best Sony has to offer). My TV is a new 36" Sony HD "capable" one. Sorry, I just don't have the exact codes.
BTW, a friend and I went on a search for the right components and ended up with NOTHING, along with no HD at all. I returned the Sony Cables because I only see better color, not a better picture. I'm thinking of trying the Monster Cables out, but only if a friend of mine can get the discount.
Does anyone know the difference between the Sony stuff and the Monster cable stuff? The Best Buy guys are all over them, but I take it as a gimmic.

Does your TV only have one set of component inputs? Most have at least two.
