Man, the game is really awesome, but for some stupid bug, it is really pissing me off and hundreds of other victims like me.

Anyway, the game's sound just would not stop popping and stuttering, making the whole game sounded like a fire crackers. I could not hear any in game conversation, and can barely make out the sound effect because everything is muddled with cracking and popping.

Just sent in a ticket to Valve Steam customer support, hopefully get a reply back. In the meantime, I will watch Donnie Darko DVD

 

Ya, my bug is i cant see the guns or anything, and my computer is brand new, x800xt graphics card, beats me why it has issues, i stopped playing a while ago.

 

have you guys gotten the latest patches through steam? fixed any stuttering issues I had

 

I only get the stutterring only when it's doing an autosave, or between scene transitions (where it autosaves as well).
I play it on a P4 2.4GHz with 768MB and a 9700 Pro running XP Pro.

 

I got latest patch and everything...

but finally I figured it out myself last night. I have Sound Blaster Live 5.1, apparently the surround sound mixing in Half Life has some bug, all the stuttering and cracking went away when I choose two speakers under Autio Options, anything above would bring back all the fire crackers...

oh well, guess I have to live with stereo

 

try turning on the anti aliasing or download the drivers for the card.

 

you you you mean the the halflife2 still still studders.Honestly since the first time i beat it i havent touched it.The Game is over rated.

I have the same sound card as you, and I have creative 5.1 5300 speakers. I am able to play the game with the 5.1 speakers with no problem.

 

I'm having problems with my audio in this damn game, some sounds come through nice and some of the damn dialogue is garlbled and sounds funny as crap. The graphics are awesome though.
