Gaming Headsets

I got a cheap BT earpiece that does a decent job. Wish I'd spent a little more on a nicer one.

well personally i like wired headsets because of not having the need to charge up the headset. but to be quite honest if you aren't playing games like call of duty where you need good headphones to hear footsteps around you then a bluetooth should be ok.

i've use a wired turtle beach and currently using my buddies plantronics wireless one that he doesn't use. turtle beach one was better. the wireless ones would catch static and interference from other electronic devices. very annoying. i've always wondered if Astros were worth the money. my friends that have it said the mixamp is what makes it good...any other set of headphones would work with it. i've yet to try it and see the difference. all the youtubers rave about astros. this is for any fps game.

People that use non-Astro headsets with the Astro mixamp get amazing results from the mixamp too.
Apparently the Audio Technicas are great as an audiophile's headphones too, which is a definite bonus.

I've always been a fan of Turtle Beache headsets. My first set were PX21's that just recently had it's ear piece connector break off with the wire still connected, I've had this set for years but it just snapped off so all I need to do is screw the pieces back together from the DIY's that I've seen but my wife got me Turtle Beach P11's for Christmas so I've been using those instead since I haven't had time to fix my other ones.

Can anyone recommend a decent gaming headset?
I'm hoping to spend < $50 and really only need it for some computer gaming. The current one I have - - is broken in several places after a few years of abuse, otherwise I love it. I just don't want to spend 2x as much now as I did a few years ago for it.
Do ya'll know of any similar, good headsets like that^? I prefer behind the neck so it doesn't mess up my hair . But it seems like those headsets are hard to come by nowadays

Yeah i think those are pretty much done. I think for you situation you should look at ones that are used over the ear. Like this one.
But not recommending this one in particular but a general sense what you might have to look into.
Amazon.com: MEElectronics Sport-Fi M6P Memory Wire In-Ear Headphones with Microphone, Remote, and Universal Volume Control (Black): Electronics

You can find tons on Amazon that are sold for a good price. Here's one that's $34.99
The headphones that go behind your head are kinda outdated imo, I've never been a fan of those and the sound quality isn't good compared to the full cushion of a real gaming headset. I bought a gaming headset when I used to play CoD because you could hear exactly where the footsteps were coming from.

What I like about the ones I have now are they they are on the ear, they don't go around the ear. No matter how big or small those over the ear sets are, my ears always hurt after some time. With mine now, they never hurt.

I use Sennheiser PC350 with Asus Essence XTS and Sennheiser PC350 Xense edition. Both are closed headsets, I prefer them over open ones. They are over the ear and noise canceling, very comfortable to wear for hours. Both are excellent, very clear sound and very good communications over Ventrilo and TS.

i get you, but like atlas said, its an outdated style. More and more gamers are having gamer chairs which have headrests. So the over back of the head style would make it uncomfortable.

The behind the neck set I've been using works very well. Great for gaming, very comfortable and stays perfectly in place.
Of course, there is a big difference between my old set and this one when it comes to listening to music. This one is not nearly as good for music, but I knew that when buying it. Overall, I'm happy I got it.

Back in the day when I gamed, the holy grail of headphones for CS were the plantronics DSP-500 headphones.
iirc they were so sought after that they released a special counter strike branded model of them.
I was always accused and kick/banned because people thought I was cheating.
For call of duty I just used the Sony play station over ear wireless headphones

I rock Sennheiser 598s and a Blue Yeti mic.

any suggestions for 2017?
I want to stay wireless because I was mainly using them with my computer and I hate the cord.

Turtle Beach XO One is what I use. I am on Xbox. I love it.
mute option
separate Game/Chat volume control
three bass Options: off, medium, high.
self feedback option so you can hear yourself slightly. This takes away the awkwardness of not hearing yourself talk and lets you hear if you are too loud or breathing into your mic.
