Buying New Laptop in 3 hours
Buying New Laptop in 3 hours
Cliffs:
-I got a Sony laptop in London a few weeks ago (Core Duo, 1GB memory, 120GB HD, 15.4 screen)
-Now in NJ, I see I can do better (more for the money). So I am returning the Sony and getting one here (soon)
-All will be around $1000 (give or take). About the same specs as the Sony (maybe 2GB ram)
-Between Sony, Toshiba or HP.
-Any quick suggestions?
-These look good -
Toshiba Satellite A205-S4617
HP Pavilion dv6355us 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC
Toshiba Satellite A205-S4607
HP Pavilion dv6265us
HP Pavilion dv6365us
Sony VAIO® VGN-FZ140E/B

I have had notebooks in all of the listed brands and prefer HP, Sony and than Toshiba. If you are looking for all purpose with Vista compatibility check out HP NC6400 or NC8430. I actually have a couple if you are interested.

I just got an IBM Lenovo T60....I love this thing
I've gone through 2 Toshiba laptops in the past...worse things I ever used...in fact the 3 companies I've ever worked for had toshiba laptops at one point.....not a single one of them would ever buy them again for employees

Get an external HD just as a safeguard... They're so cheap anymore really.
I've had two Toshiba laptops in the past without any issues. I personally like HP, although my current one tends to run a little hot.

I know it is moot at this point but sony's service is so terrible I would never buy a computer from them. Their laptops are the only pc's that can compete on style to apple, but they sent my friends laptop back and they forgot ALL of the screws on the bottom of the computer. when he picked it up out of the box the computer just split open. sent it back, came back with another problem. ive seen similar experiences from others as well.

I am reading the specs correct right? No Bluetooth? That would be an instant deal breaker for me at least since I have four or five peripherals that connect via Bluetooth.

Hmm, I experienced different. My desktop was having issues, they overnighted me a box with all the padding. I put the PC in there and it got shipped back to them overnight via Fedex, no charge to me. I got my PC back within a week with no issues. Works like a charm again.

those are my thoughts, lol Only thing I could really see a good use for is with a bluetooth enabled printer or something..but even then you can go regular wireless.
What benefits would a bluetooth mouse have over a regular wireless mouse?

You'd be surprised
.... Agreed for the most part.
I guess it's one of those things that if you have you'll use, but it's not something most people go after.
