Built a new rig
In preperation for Battlefield 2142 (which I hope is good) and to improve BF2 and PS performace, I just ordered the following. I was up to a crazy $4500 price but got it down to $3100. I had Vista in mind when order 4GB of RAM as well as the 21" LCD. The 21' will duel nicely with my 17" Samsung.
Case
1 ROSEWILL|R5601-BK RT
Motherboard
1 ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP P965 775
Video card
1 ASUS A EAX1900XT/2DHTV/512 RT
Power supply
1 OCZ 700w GXSSLI 700W RT
CPU
1 INTEL|CORE 2 E6600 2.4G 775 R
Memory
4 MEM 512Mx2|COR TWIN2X1024-6400C4 R
Hard drives
2 HD 150G|WD 10K 16M SATA WD1500AHFD
(RAID0)
Burner/Reader
1 DVD BURN LITEON|SHM-165H6S RAM BK R
1 DVDROM LITEON|SHD-16S1S-05 SATA BK
Sound card
1 CREATIVE|X-FI XTREME
Monitor
1 Samsung LCD 21" 8MS DVI M 215TW
Some overclocking, a better CPU cooler, I'll be happy for 6 months then upgrade the CPU when the Extreme price drops.

Btw just to give you a hint of what to expect.
Case
DELL XPS700
Motherboard
NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP
Video card/s
Dual SLi 1GB NVidia GeForce 7950GX2
Power supply
1000w
CPU
Inter Processor 930 with Dual Core Technology (3.00GHz, 800FSB)
Memory
4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz
Hard drives
250GB/ 400GB
Burner/Reader
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/ dbl layer write capable
Sound card
CREATIVE|X-FI XTREME
Monitor
Dell LCD 24" widescreen
On BF2 and 2142 Beta I'm maxxed out on everything with it comes to graphic settings, as of right now i'm always the 1st when it comes to map loading ( great for taking the jet) by a good 5-10secs before someone else joins.
2142 uses the same graphics engine as BF2 so your set up will have no problem at ultrahigh settings. ..
For me the CPU is where the bottleheck is, but I'm still maxxed out and runs very smooth no problems... When the CPU prices come down i will buy Extreme processor x6800.

The parts just started rolling in. I should have everything mid-week!
Quick question; when setting up XP, I'm going to need the RAID drivers during setup. I have the drivers but is there anyway around having to install a floppy drive just to load the RAID drivers (like from CD)?
Can't wait to see the bench marks (Mark06) When you get it..

Is it free and where do I get it if so??

If you are using the built in RAID off the motherboard, there is no need for any other drivers. They are already loaded up in the BIOS and they are XP Plug and Play.

It's also SATA which is trivial but I was thinking airflow inside the case. I have the round, IDE cables but they're still bulky and difficult to route. I can't believe how cheap DVD burners are now.

So, what I've done is simply make an iso image of a disc, and burn multiple dvd's at one time, then you don't have to worry about re-reading the disc everytime you have to burn multiple copies. Hence the reason why I mentioned if you spent a few bucks more it may be more efficient and time saving.
But it again depends on how fast you are burning the DVDs. Because on my computer for some strange reason when I'm burning two discs I can't get them to burn consistently over 3x speed. And I'm thinking it's because of my hard drive or something. I still need to do some testing.

And even still, when I ran it using just one of the burners it was slow as well. I could never get it to burn over 4x for DVDs.
