black friday deals on 360s and PS3s??

so far it seems the best deal for a xbox 360 on black friday is at walmart. they got a console with 5 games for 279.99, and the forza package for 349.99 but you get a 50 dollar gift card. they are selling COD4 for $49 so thats an added bonus.

what are you guys finding? if we work together we can maybe find some good deals tommorow.

The walmarts in my area are including 15 Blu-Ray movies under $30 w/ the purchase of an 80gig PS3. It begins at 8am today...suite deal IMO!

buy a 40GB PS3 @ Wal-mart between June 1-7 2008 for $399 and get a $100 gift cert back for Blu-ray movies (not sure on games). I think I may do it. I sure won't mind getting 3 Blu-Ray movies + 40GB PS3 for $400. Anyone know any other deals going around?

Blu-Ray is losing...to dvd's that is. Sony had an article about how their competition is with DVD's not HD dvd's.

Great deal, if I had the cash I'd do it.

You'd have something close to a point, if the primary reason for my interest was movies. Not even close. GT5 Prologue pwns.

tie true the weird part part about me and racing games is that I choke if the game is really close. I'll start taking corners to fast or breeaking too slow. Give me a Fps anyday.

haha.. I was just kidding lol. well that's the challenging part about racing - esp against people - not messing up on the final lap! We were doing a time trial challenge on GT5 - 5 of us (in person) - it was so damn fun.

I got my PS3 about 3 weeks ago at Walmart. Anyone knows if they will honor the price? I have to check their return policy, because if it comes to it, I will return it and re-buy it for the $100 card.

Saw that but its a little too late to apply for and get a Sony card in time to meet the Wal-mart sale window. That would have been sweet. Even sweeter would be, to get a PS3 for free.

Over at SD they're complaining about Wal Mart pick up because you can buy from Walmart.com right now including their bundles. However, I'll wait to confirm that the gift card can be for anything for the Sunday deal and I'll wait until MGS4 comes out to get my game.

Walmart allows 90 days for returns even on PS3s with a receipt (i thought it would fall under some electronics policy, but evidently it doesnt.....Full return/exchange up to 90 days...they did it for me....) . And they price match up to 30 some odd days. Maybe you can just have them price match?

some new info.. supposedly you can get the $100 gift cert for the MGS4 PS3 coming out 2nd week of June...

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/30/wa...-ps3-purchase/

Wal-Mart offering $100 gift card with PS3 purchase

61 Comments by Alexander Sliwinski May 30th 2008 8:00PM

We've received documentation from one of our reliable sources that the $100 gift card Walmart.com is currently offering with the purchase of a PS3 isn't the whole story. According to images shown us (one of which we've placed after the break) from the "Wal-Mart Wire," between June 1-7 Wal-Mart stores will give a $100 gift card to customers who purchase a PS3. The interesting part is that the following week, June 8 - 15, many Blu-ray players will offer the $100 gift card, and this apparently also includes the PS3.

The kicker here is if you're looking to pick up a PS3 with your purchase of Metal Gear Solid 4, the smart money would be to pick up the 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle available June 12 because you'll get a $100 gift card out of the deal. Sure, you could be all about the Wal-Mart hate, but we'd take the free $100.
btw here's what Gamepro said about MGS4:

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/ga...st-games-ever/

GamePro isn't being stingy with the praise, pinning a glowing 5/5 review on MGS4's lapel, while calling it "one of the greatest games of all time." Oh, but it doesn't stop there. Here's just a handful of our favorite bits:

* "This is videogame storytelling at its absolute best, and represents a new high watermark for the craft, easily surpassing the superb BioShock and the subversive Grand Theft Auto IV."
* "MGS4 has that effect on players, effectively blurring, if not erasing, the line that divides games and cinema. It's an absolutely remarkable achievement."
* "But if you have access to an HDTV, MGS4 will show you the bleeding edge of video game graphics."
* "It sets new standards for graphics, sound, gameplay, and storytelling, and it may be years before it is equalled, let alone surpassed."
* "You will not play a better game this year – maybe even this decade."

They told me 15 days for returns. But today makes it day 14, so I'm taking the receipt in later for them to honor the promotion. I already called. They said I didn't have to bring the PS3 back.

If I can get the 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle available June 12 and get the $100 gift card I will be at my local Walmart on the 12th or so. I can easily find $100 worth of stuff to buy at Walmart to make this well worth it. I have been waiting for this bundle and also debating on a xbox 360 too.

Oh yeah I have not owned a game console since the original NES. I know with the PS2 you need a memory card to save games. Is this true of the PS3 as well?

Do you think the 80GB bundle will be in short supply when it comes out in a couple weeks?

I read that Gamestop was not taking preorders for the 80GB set. I read that Circuit City was taking preorders but stopped. Wal Mart hasn't been crazy with the 40GB sale but it might be because people are holding off for the 80GB.

The story aside from some of the weird shit from MSG2 has been phenomonal. I've known my wife since MSG1 and she actually sat down to watch me play the first 3 because of the story. Kojima seriously needs to consider Hollywood as the Metal Gear story has been better than several real movies. I've seen probably at least 8 different reviews of this game giving it either a 10 or a 5 or an A or whatever for part 4.

Never got into MGS, a little bit too hard.
I doubt it will be as popular as GTA4, 1 because its PS3 only, and 2 its not an easy game like GTA4

Well Friday Amazon had them on sale for about 7 mins before they sold out. Wish I would have thought to check. I was actually home from work by then.

Hope I can score one before work this Thursday at the local Wal Mart.

Lost the link that mentioned 7 mins.

I said F it and got a 40GB on Friday. The 80GB will be hard to get and you only have 3 days to get to Wal Mart before the deal expires. And that's assuming they honor the $100 gift card which some managers (per SD) are saying it won't be honored. I ain't paying $200 (partial credit), well $140 because I'm getting Metal Gear, for BC, 40GB, and the $20 difference between DS and Sixaxis.

I doubt it... I can't remember the last time a game was actually sold out (all over town)... I mean, maybe a store here and there... but all you have to do is drive to the next place that sells games, and they'll have it... most people don't think of Target or Walmart when it comes to buying games... they always head straight to Game Stop or EB...

I am going to try to get one at the local Walmart and see if I can get the $100 gift card. I too have all those stores in my area along with BB and CC. So I am pretty confident I will come home with one Thursday night.

I went to two Game Stop / EB stores near me Sunday afternoon. One said they are only getting 4 bundles. The other store wouldn't say how many but, said they will have plenty to meet demand. But, who knows if either was acurate in what they were saying?

Good to know JedimindTricks. If I strike out at Walmart I will hit the local Best Buy and see if they will match. Did you print anything out to get the match? Maybe I would hold onto the GC and get my 3G Iphone. lol

i printed the weekly walmart ad that showed the $100 gift card with a purchase of ANY blu-ray player.

but the girl at the cashier knew right away. she said she'd been working at the customer service desk for a few days and many people were wanting the same deal.

I'm glad I bought the 40GB. I was too sick and tired to do a midnight run.

BTW, someone needs to rename this title.
