Battlefield 2: Modern Combat

Anyone else gonna pick this up for the Xbox?

It comes out on the 25th.

I was planning on just saving my money to buy games for the 360, but this looks too fun to pass up.

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/659/659639p1.html

And yes smitty, I know I should get SOCOM, but I am just burned out on that and will probably trade in the PS2 once I get the 360.

It depends. I've voiced my opinion on it (a sorry clone of Battlefield 1942 ... Vietnam at best), however, that's not exactly ""BAD"" since 1942/Vietnam were great games (they just suck compared to the real Battlefield 2).

That said, if enough people were playing this, I'd buy it and play. Otherwise I'd stick to Battlefield 2 on the PC (which is a solid 8000x better).

Anyway, we have another thread on this topic don't we?

Yeah, but I glanced over it and it seemed to be just about the PC version. I figured that they would draw different crowds. But I have had a long day so maybe it should be merged

Actually, I was talking about the thread entitled Go Buy Battlefield: Modern Combat that is currently listed at the top of the second page of this forum and also being shown as a related topic to this thread.

It's more like Battlefield 1: Desert Combat. They've just given it the "2" designation because release was pushed back so late.

Graphics and gameplay are a good bit below Battlefield 2 PC. Nevertheless, I'll grab it for XBOX just cuz of Live.
LOL. kinda like A4 S-line, even though there's an S4 just to confuse the hell out of the consumer for no darn reason but shitty marketing.

I think the 360 and PS3 may tilt that balance, at least temporarily. Those machines have great potential.

Oddly enough, I'd say the only one with potential to defeat the PC is the Revolution.

The problem with consoles (beyond the obvious, like lack of power) is the CONTROLS. The typical console controller just can't touch the precise amount of control you get with a mouse and keyboard.

Maybe the revolution can tilt that balance.

Really cool game.

Only issues so far is the helicopters are hard to fly and the servers seem to be crashing on Xbox Live, first night issue I hope

How was the conversion over to the xbox? Was it as choppy as Doom 3? How watered down is it from the PC version?

I had it freeze once on single player and online the first night. Last night there were no problems for me on Live.

Great game though, one of those games you can't wait to go home and play

Hey Justin, i just rented teh game, I am playing the campaign. ITS Fing AWSOME!!! i cant play live with you cuz i still dont internet from the damn hurricane. at least i got power back 2 days ago. But i am really digin it.. I ordered Need for speed for my 360 but this looks like fun game...might buy it... reason i didnt buy it was because i am waiting for my 360 and i saw GHOST recon.. IT LOOKS sweet..

one question, maybe i need to ask in 360 thread. will they make games for both 360 and regular xbox? or will there be title ONLY for 360 and they wont make lower grade one for xbox?

I've been playing about 10 hrs a week. I've been a seargent for what seems like forever. All I need is one more medal, but I like trying to defeat the other team rather than screwing around trying to get another medal.

The graphics are so-so, but the gameplay is awesome.

The PC version is sweet, but I have a Mac. So no BF2 for me.

This is what I'm reading when it comes to BF2 MC.... I don't look enjoyable

Attack helicopters that feel like sky boats and pack 200+ missiles without reload.

* GTAM (Ground to air missiles) that one shot any helicopter and have a zero percent chance of missing the target (I watched one GTAM circle a helicopter 10 times at least before it finally killed it).

* Attack helicopters without flares or countermeasures of any kind.

* Attack helicopters that can be destroyed by a single soldier on the ground with an SMG,

* Tanks that are destroyed by handheld machine guns (sniper rifle takes a few health bars off the tank per shot).

* Snipers with a new tool called "laser target" which allows them to instantly kill any vehicle or person (helicopter included) with no maximum/minimum range and 100% accuracy. Nothing feels quite as ridiculous as calling down a "laser target" on a helicopter moving 200mph and having it hit every time with pinpoint accuracy.

* Guns that have zero deviation no matter how badly you're spamming them.

* Think the pre 1.10 noob tube was bad? Try RPGs that are glorified rocket launchers from the days of Quake with enhance splash damage. Nothing quite as lame as firing a rocket at your toes and fragging the poor sap in front of you.

at this point in the game... i will rank up so quick it'll be a joke... my REAL bf2 experience from the PC which is a million times more accurate allows me to kill almost all peoople that come in sight, including in helicopter battles....

the helicopter is a major JOKE, you ascend, lean it forward, and rain the pain with unlimited missles LMAO!!!! there is no realism to the heli like there is on the PC....

however this game is tight especially on the 50" sammy..... and the fact that its NOOB TARGET PRACTICE to the max

True on the handling, but some helicopters like the MI-24 can carry a huge rocket load.

* GTAM (Ground to air missiles) that one shot any helicopter and have a zero percent chance of missing the target (I watched one GTAM circle a helicopter 10 times at least before it finally killed it).

Only if you fly in a straight line. If you duck behind a building/hill and fly low you should be fine a lot of the time.

* Attack helicopters that can be destroyed by a single soldier on the ground with an SMG

Never seen that happen. I have taken them out though by sniping the pilot or using a 50 cal if they stay still.

* Tanks that are destroyed by handheld machine guns (sniper rifle takes a few health bars off the tank per shot).

Again, never seen that. Mainly because as soon as a tank starts taking hits the gunner moves the turret around and kills who ever is shooting him.

If it is a ground target it is the same as calling in an airstrike using a laser designator. Nothing special about that.

And my experience is that you typically have less than a 50% chance of taking out the helicopter with it.

It also causes a beeping sound for whoever you are targeting, so if you are out in the open you have a good shot of being killed before the 5-6 seconds it takes for the laser designator to lock on.

* Guns that have zero deviation no matter how badly you're spamming them.

Not sure what you mean, but the only time your aim sight is perfectly still is if you are prone.

* Think the pre 1.10 noob tube was bad? Try RPGs that are glorified rocket launchers from the days of Quake with enhance splash damage. Nothing quite as lame as firing a rocket at your toes and fragging the poor sap in front of you.

RPG's are not that good against people on the ground. If you have a RPG and they have a SMG it will be a pretty close match.

to everything silver sez

I just picked the game up this weekend and it is sick, very good....some unrealistic stuff, but it would not be a video game w/o being totally realistic I'd say its 5x better than G.R.A.W.///
