ATI Crossfire config

Hey guys, I've got an Asus A8V-MVP mobo with the ATI Crossfire 1600 chipset and I what to know what other ATI card I can use for SLI mode. I currently only have an ATI X850 XT card. Anyone know what other ATI cards I can use to make this work? I was looking at the X1600Pro, but I'm not sure if thats a compatable card or not...

Thats what I was afraid of...Though I did find this page that looks like it says you can mix and match.

i know for nvidia, they have to be the same card, however they dont have to be the same brand

so you could mix and xfx 7900 with a evga 7900, etc

Not sure where on that page you linked it says you can mix and match.

There is a little chart about a page down with the ATI Crossfire logo on the right hand side that says pretty clearly that for an X850XT, you need an "RADEON X850 CrossFire Edition"

What I am reading from that chart is that same Crossfire Edition card will also support merging with an X850XT Platinum and X850 Pro as well. But that doesnt mean it works the other way too. There is only 1 choice on the left, which is the card you buy second.

The short version is any X850 card can be slaved off an X850 CrossFire Edition card and any X800 can be slaved off an X800 CrossFire Edition card.

I would assume by now the X850 CrossFire would be fairly cheap since the x1600/x1800/x1900 series cards are all one generation newer. So is cost your concern, or can you no longer find the X850 CrossFire?
