Am I in a mess or are they?
Am I in a mess or are they?
I used an office computer to send an email for a friend and several weeks later, the name I signed allegedly comes up on the company payroll. I wrote a pretty foul letter to some girl my boy hates and I used his name on my email account. Now I feel that the manager was trying to send us a scare by asking who's Joe Gallagher and why's he on our payroll, but I feel the company read the email and wants to know who sent it. Isn't illegal to read anyone's private email, no matter where the origin of it sent? Who's in more shit? Me for using the company computer or the company for reading my email account? So far they haven't pinpointed me, but I don't think I did anything wrong while what they did was totally illegal.
It is illegal to use company machine to send personal emails. Never ever use comapny PC, printers, faxes for personal use. It is illegal in most companies but heavily depends on the policy. Read the agreement you signed when you joined and you'll know if there is clauses regarding use of computers for personal use.

Here's the sickest thing I found out today. I'm shitting about this whole mess all weekend and believe me, your replies didn't help me feel any better about using the company computer so anyway, a new employee comes to work for us and his name is none other than Joseph Gallagher. What are the freakin odds of that? I've learned my lesson, guys. Even though this was a false alarm, I won't be sending any emails or using that company computer for any personal use. This crazy coincidence was a sign to not mess with company property.
The other reason you should never use company e-mail for personal e-mail is, you're opening the door to spam. This may be obvious to most of you but you should also never ever put your company e-mail address in at ANY web form fields for anything. We get tons of spam coming through our mail servers just because of this. I get ZERO.
