Dudes, wheres the crew at? I played online for an hour or two and it was pretty fun. I'm about halfway to affording the cheapest apartment so far.

I had to fight off some a-hole who was stalking me forever. We rolled up to Los Santos Customs and he got out and killed me, so I respawned and shotgunned his face and got my ride back . He couldn't drive or shoot for crap, I killed him like 5 times as he tried to continually ram me hahaha. Scrub.

I couldn't play online at all last night. I created my character, chose my car, and it just sat "waiting for others to join" for 20 minutes. I said the hell with it and played single player.

Everyone on my friends list warned me it was crap before I even tried. Those I saw trying again later did so for about five minutes before going to back to story. Probably underestimated traffic...guess they need a few more days.

Five Tips to Get You Started in GTA Online

GTA Online is more than just 16-player Grand Theft Auto V. Here are a few tips to make the transition that much easier.
If you've been spending time in Los Santos over the past two weeks, you've probably become accustomed to the finer workings of Grand Theft Auto V. Good thing, too. The layout of the gameworld, the relative strengths of each weapon--all of that knowledge will come in handy when Rockstar flips the switch on GTA Online. But if you want to maximize your multiplayer success, there are a few concepts unique to GTA Online that you'll want to keep firmly in mind.

Familiarize yourself with the interaction menu
Because you're sharing the world with 15 other players, hitting the pause button in GTA Online doesn't actually pause anything. So if you pull open the overworld map while doing a buck-twenty down the freeway, you're pretty much asking for a nasty accident. Fortunately, Rockstar has a solution for this in the form of the interaction menu.

Hold select or back, and you'll get a little menu in the upper left that lets you create a quick GPS route toward common destinations such as Ammu-Nation, Los Santos Customs, and convenience stores (a great source for early-game cash). It's a handy system that lets you navigate toward specific locations quickly and easily, without ever giving up control of your vehicle or character. The interaction menu can be used for other things, like managing your inventory, but its most useful trait is quick and painless GPS routing.

Don't carry too much cash at once
While there is an entire leveling and stat system in GTA Online, let's be honest: cash is where the real progression happens. The more money you earn, the more properties and vehicles you can buy. That's why you may find yourself tempted to keep all that cash on you when you run around, a constant reminder of just how wealthy you've become.

Here's why that's a bad idea: you lose a significant portion of your cash when you get killed. Literally. It falls to the ground, just waiting to get snatched up by the very person responsible for your death. So do yourself a favor and stash your money away in your bank account. The ATM is your friend.

Don't turn your back on an angry shopkeeper
Early into GTA Online, one of the best ways to earn a bit of quick cash is to hold up convenience stores. Walk inside, pull out your gun, and wait for the cashier to empty out the register. Whether you shout vulgarities into your headset to speed him up is entirely your call.

But the score's not over when you grab the cash. These cashiers tend to pack heat and a profound sense of vengeance, so if you turn your back on them while running to the door, there's a good chance you'll get yourself killed before you even make it outside. Instead, be sure to keep your gun on the cashier as you grab the money and back out the door without ever taking your eyes off him. You could also just off the cashier the moment he hands over the cash, but that will earn you a three-star wanted level instead of the two stars you'd normally get for holding up one of these stores.

Nice guys don't always finish last
If you're struggling to earn cash early in your GTA Online career, you may find yourself tempted to begin killing other players on sight just so you can loot their dead bodies. But GTA Online will reward you for your good behavior in the form of regular cash payments. It may not earn you as much money as straight-up murdering strangers, but it's at least a consistent form of income. And there's one other benefit, too: you won't earn yourself a "bad sport" reputation. Rockstar has built a matchmaking system that makes sure jerks are matched up with other jerks, effectively banishing the worst offenders to a murderous wasteland of their own creation. Suddenly those good-behavior rewards sound pretty nice.

If you need a break, turn on passive mode
Even with the bad-sport system, you'll still run into violent jerks. It's inevitable. So if you want to spare yourself the headache of dealing with these rotten apples, or just want to sit and enjoy a nice sunset on the pier, pull open the interaction menu and enable passive mode. This feature makes you invincible to enemy gunfire so long as your own gun remains holstered. Start firing retaliation shots, and passive mode will turn itself off. Essentially, it works for as long as you're willing to resist the urge to fight back. It's a nice way to just soak up the world and avoid any confrontation. It's also handy if you need to step away from the controller for a minute. Just make sure you've got enough spare change to afford the $100 price tag required to enable passive mode.

I'll prob give this a real go this weekend. Until then, I've got Battlefield 4 early beta and the single player to do first.
In case you guys don't know already, you don't need to be console friends with the crew, since you can see who on the crew is online via the menu.

Starting on October 4, Microsoft is unlocking Gold level subscription services to all Xbox Live members. All Xbox Live users will be able to access Netflix, download some demos and even try out some GTA Online – or sample any other online multiplayer – until October 6.

GO GO GO!!! It's your lucky weekend!

Don't hate on the pedostache dude

It took me a while to figure out you have to hold the back button, it'll bring up quick GPS and some various settings. For some reason the ATM isn't on the legend in the main map.

Awesome tips!! Thanks Luster.

I'll post up a username when I get live next week!!

Question, is there still auto aim in on-line or do I need to brush up on my manual aiming?
Ive gone through the story mode single player with auto aim on so far.

Crew Colors, Customization & More
Here's all the info about what we can do online in a crew = http://www.rockstargames.com/V/socialclub/crews

Crew Colors
“My color’s my honor, my color’s my all.” Using the Crew Color Picker, Crew leaders can help all members stand tall with a virtually infinite choice of hues that can be worn on Crew clothing and vehicles – and even appear as tire and parachute smoke.

Crew Actions
Add insult to injury against rival Crews or a salute to fellow Crew members with a signature gesture chosen by the Crew leader.

Crew Emblem Vehicle Decals

Put the finishing touch on your Los Santos Custom-ized car with your Crew Emblem emblazoned on to the hood. Take to the streets for some Team GTA Race action and let them know who you’re riding for.

Crew Rank Titles
As Crew members rank up while playing GTA Online, they’ll achieve special Rank Titles editable by Crew Leaders – perfect for themed squads to designate appropriate levels of status. Crews are now free to define themselves thematically with this option.

xwMpNwy.jpg

Crew Sessions
Got a beef to settle with a rival Crew? Create an Open Crew Session to go head to head against them in a lobby – or set a Closed Crew Session to be matched up with strictly members of your Crew for a little intramural skirmish Online.

Crew Messaging
Crew Leaders and Commissioners can now send a message through their Social Club Crew page that will directly reach their Crew members in their GTAV in-game feed. Let your unit know about the next rumble you’re planning, a new promotion in the Hierarchy or a new Crew Challenge to beat.

Crew Cards
“Who are the warriors?” If only Masai had access to Crew Cards. Do a little in-game recon on another Crew by pulling their Card to review their vital stats and compare against your own squad's.

Crew Hierarchy
Available on Crew pages at the Social Club website, the Hierarchies feature allows Crew leaders and Commissioners to assign special ranks to members, designating the responsibilities of Crew management and assuring that loyalty and performance are rewarded appropriately.

And of course:
Bonus RP

Bonus RP – While there are many reasons to band together with Crew members for pride, solidarity and well-honed teamwork in a firefight or heist, there’s also as always the very practical and valuable benefit of gaining a higher percentage of GTA Online Reputation Points by playing in competitive modes alongside your Crew mates.

Can't wait till the Online becomes so smooth that we can do all of this without problems. So excited!! Must try to finish the story soon so I can go crazy Online.

Of course, anyone who wants to give new names to the crew ranking, go ahead and suggest. I can even name everyone ranked 1-10 as "CLtotheTL32 aka Mr. Dies a lot"

Your phone should have a "Deposit" money option in it. I would do that instead of trying to find an ATM.

Turns out all those people that were singing praises of the PS3 for GTA 5 are now suffering on GTA Online because of Sony lol.

From R*: For PlayStation 3 users, a PlayStation Network server issue was detected that was limiting the amount of possible concurrent users. This was preventing most players from accessing GTA Online altogether.

Looks like they might have gotten Sony to fix it, but that's just in silly fanbois' faces.

IIRC, the Xbox One isn't backwards compatible... You can buy a digital 360 version of it but it won't read the discs.
