Ground Zeroes, staring Big Boss, is the prologue to Metal Gear Five. Rumor is that it's current-gen but should be scalable to next-gen. On top of that, it is not a PS3 exclusive.

It's supposedly takes place directly after Peace Walker, so if you haven't played it yet I recommend doing so relatively soon.

Also, don't worry. Big Boss isn't old. Kojima stated the lighting just makes his beard appear to be gray.
So, good news and bad news about this game:
Good news is for PS4 owners, this game runs at 1080p and 60fps...so, it'll be beautifully gorgeous. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2014/02/1...0p-on-xbox-one
Bad news...early press is that the game can be finished in 2 hours?!?

Hideo Kojima labelled recent visual comparisons by gamers between Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes as ‘nonsense.’
The legendary developer took to Twitter to respond to the unfavorable claims, which follow on from a slew of current and next-generation comparison screenshots for the latest chapter in the venerable stealth-action franchise.
Check out Kojima-san’s responses below.
I published comparison images of consoles since I get so many questions. Once I said the contents & controls can be equally amused (cont)

Fox Engine made it even the curren-gen look as good as next-gen. Nonsense to compare simply b/w MGS4 &GZ since GZ is open world game thou.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will build on franchise creator Hideo Kojima’s beliefs that new console technologies enable a new kind of gameplay.
In a Japanese video interview translated by Siliconera, Kojima said one of the beauties of open-world games is the freedom of play style, which means players experience the world in different ways.
The developer hopes players will use the social connectedness of new consoles to share their particular experiences with the world.
“Video game consoles are usually found in the living room, and for the longest time, their world has been contained within that area. From now on, they’ll be jumping out of there,” he said.
“It’s almost as if consoles will be connecting to many other things, or making their way out of the house.
“By using these functions, I believe that we’ll be able to make games with completely different feelings to them, or even a completely new game altogether. Even for our ‘core’ games, they can now have methods of communication. I think that’s their most exciting aspect, and I also believe that it will only grow from this point on.”
Kojima’s also quite excited about MGS5′s second screen features, iDroid – another series first.
However, it’s not all new things; Kojima also hopes to draw on something that has been a hallmark of the series to date, but build on and leverage it to encourage replays.
“I think a game’s best charm lies within its interactivity, so each time a player does something, I believe it’s best met with various reactions. This time, we’re making a game with dynamic developments, where players will be able to think for themselves and execute their own strategies, which will in turn yield its own results in accordance with how they play,” he said.
“It’s not about playing [the game] once and then finishing it, but instead, one mission might have various routes, so being able to have fun with it over and over, is another one of the things we’d like to offer with Metal Gear Solid 5.”
Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is due on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in March. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is undated; Ground Zeroes is designed as a prologue and tutorial for The Phantom Pain, but also to keep fans happy while KojiPro works on the full game, its first next-gen project.

Yeah. I play so little these days. If I buy it now, I'll probably forget all about it by the time Phantom Pain comes out, that I'll have to replay it. Best to just wait.
Like, asianspec has been bugging me to pick up so many games so that I can kick his keister over online play but I haven't been able to...sometimes, I wish there was 50 hours in a day.
I bought quite a few games when the PS3 was first released, but ever since my daughters were born, I think I've only bought 3 games over the last six years. Gran Turismo 6 was the only game I got last year. Going forward, I'm only buying GT and MGS games, so that means probably one game every 2 years.
,
, and
...Exact same thing happened to me.

But, in the few minutes I did move around and etc., I do have to say that this game looks jaw-dropping. Hory shet is it gorgeous.
If you have a PS4, even more of a heck yes (even if it is not a long game). I still have not made much progress in the game since picking it up on Tuesday but hopefully, will have more impressions soon.
Wanted to play last night but had commitments and etc.
From the brief time I've played it, it is awesome. The only "negative" is that I'm not used to Snake's new "voice". But, otherwise...buy it!

Another great story. Play control is insane. I finished the campaign but it took me forever and I messed up a lot lol. Still was fun and yet intense. Lots of great ideas too. My only beef is understanding that map but I'm getting the hang of it. Gotta try the side OPS next.

Did you drive any of the vehicles around? Good fun.
Did you shut off the power?

really excited for the full game
