Mystikk and rise. I need your guys' advice on something.

I have an old X-arcade joystick that I'm thinking of replacing.

The two Joysticks I've come down to are:

1. Super Street Fighter IV Madcatz TE S

or

2. HORI REAL ARCADE PRO V3 SA

Both have Sanwa sticks and buttons I believe, but I'd have to ask my cousin to ship over the the HRAP V3SA.

What do you guys think?

Oh and my initial thoughts on Juri (only got to play for a couple hours due to the GF):

1. Not a pressure fighter at all (lacks a good reversal move - aka DP)
2. EX special moves abuser - builds meter at a crazy rate.
3. Disappointed that her LK Senpusha isn't safe. Infact, its a bad idea to spam Senpusha.

Overall a fun character, but I'm gonna give Ibuki a try since a few of my friends are saying she's broken in this version. We shall see.

 

^ I went by that same Mom and Pop game shop and the guy there recognized me from the day before and cut me a deal on the last Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 he had. I was originally going to say no, since the buttons were crappy (non-sanwa/seimitsu) but he said he'd sell it to me super cheap. He let me have it for $45.00!

I've already ordered Sanwa buttons (~$35.00) which are on their way and now I'm wasting time at my office trying to make a Juri template for my new stick. Man I wish I was at home playing....

 

Argggh, my SSFIV still haven't shipped yet from amazon. Oh well, the regular SFIV will have to hold me over for a couple more days.

Sweet dude! That should give me some time to adjust to the Joystick.

I've been primarily a pad user in SF4, while I used X-arcade for Tekken.

One thing I've noticed is that links in SF4 are much tighter then Tekken, sat in training mode for about 3 hours last night just getting all the links on Juri down.

And FADC on a Joystick is a nightmare for me at the moment. Getting that dash to come out after the focus attack is tough for me for some reason.

I think I'm going to pick up another stick for 2nd player, since a few of my friends are avid SF4 players. Gonna ask that my cousin ship over the Hori V3SA.

This game is seriously awesome though; even when I picked up Blazblue and Tekken 6 I didn't have as much fun!

 

My HRAP3 modded with Seimitsu Ball top, 8 Seimitsu Buttons, 2 Sanwa buttons for Start/Select. Also got Tek-Innovations Top Plexi with etching... note the BraveDemon etching below the upper left home/R3/L3 button area.

 

^ Soo sick right now. Tek's also doing full clear-plexi cases soon, you see those? I'm contemplating that myself.

Also, who's going to EVO this year? I just completed my registration. It's gonna be so fucking hype, even though I know I won't get past my second fight. But watching JWong, Daigo, Mago and Edma battle it out will be worth the trip!

 

^ yeah i saw those custom plexi cases. After seeing his work, I'm definitely going to buy one when they're available.

Also I considered registering to Evo, but I'm just too rusty in some of the other games, and just not good enough at SSF4 to compete yet. Daigo is a freaking beast though... already on top of PSN and XboX live for SSF4.

 

Some friends came over to play yesterday. Game is seriously way more fun in person! And no bullshit lag tactics. The game felt WAY better and more responsive when playing locally.

the xbox PCB is reused from my SE stick and the ps3 board will be a cthulhu/chimp board

I know there's only a couple players here, but here's me vs. an Abel this past Friday. Was hoping to get some of your critiques in.

I do know most of my own mistakes, especially regarding lack of AA and execution at some parts [ EX hado instead of EX shoryu, and vice versa lol ].

 

^ I still consider myself a noob in this game, so more than critiquing, I have just a few comments aside from the ones you already pointed out:

1. I hate Able. Can you tech that throw in his QCF Combo string?
2. At 2:44 Option Select would've probably crouch teched that throw.
3. Does Akuma have any tick throw strings? (I haven't played with him or played a decent Akuma so I have no clue)

Otherwise, pretty good execution wise for online play - I personally always suffer in execution when playing online (esp. on those 1 frame links).

 

For your first two comments, you cannot tech any command throw, that includes Abel's damned Tornado Throw. Only way to get out of those is to jump out or teleport, and if a decent Abel sees me jumping out of attempted TTs, he can do his AA throw. On top of that, Abel's blockstrings are pretty tight, it's REALLY hard for me to teleport out.

Akuma's c.mp is perfect for tick throwing, but you have to be pretty close otherwise it'll push them too far away for the throw. Otherwise I like c.lk, c.lk, throw.

Thanks. Most of my main time goes to Rose these days though. My Akuma got rocked back home during sessions with my friends.

I just came back from EVO being held at Caesars Palace and got eliminated. =/ It was a good learning experience though. If any of you follow the better players, I played Kai's El Fuerte on the stream as Rose. Pretty mediocre fight on my part, but I got a bunch of compliments on her. Next destination, off to the local GEEX Expo next weekend.

 

New costumes coming out soon. I personally don't like them that much. >_>

Me using Rose. I went with Rose these days for tournaments plus for EVO, since I've been doing a lot better with her than with Akuma.

Wow. That is awesome. Must've been a few pennies! BTW I bought a Chimp board myself, I'm a little wary of the wiring, maybe I'm just nervous. Can I see a closer pic of the Chimp so I have an idea of what goes where?

Had a local tournament about a month ago. 3rd Place in teams, 5th in singles. Here's my Akuma and my teammate's CViper against Ryu, Seth and El Fuerte. Fuck El Fuerte and Seth. I even do a bit of commentary while my teammate replaces me.

 

Seems whatever small SF crowd we had died down in here.

^Yeah, at least this Apology Edition 2012 will settle everything .. and it's free. These damn twins are too overpowered. Actually they're not even overpowered, they just look like it because everyone else got nerfed to the ground.

^ I still play Mystikk, but stick to local games with my buddies. Sucks they removed Cammy's instant cannon spike, and Juri is well.. she's below average.

But twins are overpowered as shit right now. I use Yang alot (I'm a footsies type of player) and Yun's safe on block combos are just dumb.

 

You do any tournaments, Demon? Watch the pros on Youtube as well? If you're looking for Juri players, WeirdoNeo is one of my homeboys back up at Alaska, he got top 13 in EVO 2010 .. I still can't touch his Juri or Chun lol. I think he's the top Juri player in the world. He'll have you convinced Juri can be pretty competitive.

Yeah I've heard of both of them. I remember when SFIV first launched, some thought Gamerbee was Daigo because he was the highest ranked online JP player for some time.

I haven't done any tourneys since my college days (3rd Strike and CVS2), but I still play with a handful of my friends (about 6-7) who were always competitive in fighting games.

As for Yun: I agree with you - I easily poured 200 hours+ Juri and maybe 50 playing Yun and I can literally coast through wins as Yun.

Yun/Yang just match up better against most characters.
