The GWM kit is $149 + $20 shipping.

Basically you pull off the heads of the current rock band kit and install
new ones. They were the best thing going for a while. Not sure how they
compare to the new drum kit though.

You can find a good review of the goodwoodmod set on http://www.rockgamer.com/CENA/

So, am I the only one who picked up RB2 today?

I only got the game. I'm waiting to see who has the better drum set...supposedly as far as rumors goes...all the instrument will be cross compatible this time.

Did you get yours with the struts? Any impressions so far?

I just got RB2 in the mail today (ordered from Amazon)

Goodwoodmods had a huge delay due to their sensor supplier failing to ship.
They are now crunching through a huge backlog. So I don't have mine yet - they might ship this week, but I don't know. I ordered mine on 8/5.

I had already ordered the struts, tho, and they are pretty nice.
Some people have cracked/broken off their end drums due to the whacking,
but the struts takes care of that problem. GWM gave me a discount on the
drums since I don't need the struts.

I can NOT get the million points club achievement for the life of me. With a full band on a mix of hard/expert, we were 50,000 short. We did that ac/dc let there be rock song.

What other songs are good (easy) for doing this?

I've been killing it on the drums lately, I'm on the last set of Expert songs, I can kill Metallica on Expert(98%) but the other songs are MUCH harder, I can fumble through them, but its not as bad ass as my "Enter Sandman" performance.

Is RB2 out for Wii yet? I'm up in the air about picking up the track pack, even though the set list looks good.

I am moderately good friends with one of the creators of GH and have been playing them for about a year now, I'm hoping he hooks me up with a screener of GH4 :fingerscrossed:

I just looked it up, RB2 comes out for the Wii in November, set list looks good, as long as I don't need to buy all new equipment I am looking forward to it!

I know you know the GH people, but I still remember you saying you you didnt love these games...if that was true then you now the power of their addiction.

You should need to buy anything new for RB2...I didnt for the 360.

Rock Band 2 has NO cover songs. All originals by the actual artists, big plus. And they ALWAYS release new content every week.

Only thing that might get me to get GH:WT is if the rumor is true and the drums from both games will be able to get used cross platform. Then, I'll get which drum kit is best.

I initially didn't like the idea of this style of game, but after playing it a little it really grew on me. I also seem to be some what of a natural, I usually play with the same group of friends and I am by a large margin the best player and have not logged near as much time playing, on the easier songs on guitar its not uncommon for me to get 100% and I'm like the human metronome on the easier expert songs. When I settle into my new place I may get a drum set and start playing for real

Hopefully they don't get anal about this.
There are some great songs out there (aka FREEBIRD!!!!!!!!) whose masters
are difficult, if not impossible to now get.

Covers are fine as long as they are done well!

Has anyone done a bass pedal upgrade? I've been doing some research and think that is the difference between me mastering the last few songs and me continually getting my ass handed to me by fast bass notes the shitty pedal just can't keep up with. I think for around $50 I can buy and retro fit a conventional pedal/mallet, besides it would increase my street cred with fellow gamers

I find that Pearl makes the best cheap pedals, so consider going with them. The difference in smoothness between my old cheapo Pearl pedal and each of my $160 Pearl Eliminators is very small.

I wanted to get GHWT since their guitars work for all the GH's and RB's but it seems that the drums have had issues and there are some compatibility issues for the PS3. I might just get the kit for RB1 since it's less than RB2's kit. At retail it's $60 savings but I'm sure they'll go down to like $100 for a kit. I plan on getting the RB2 game and using RB1's instruments in the future. Are the savings worth it just using RB1's kit or are RB2's that much better?

The Rock band 2 drums are:
1) quieter
2) Velocity Sensitive ( play louder if you hit harder)
3) Bass Pedal is less plastic so it won't snap in half eventually
4) Wireless ( I personally think this is a minus, but..... )
5) Allows optional cymbals.

If I was starting from scratch, I would probably get the rock band 2 drums.
If you have the rock band 1 kit, I highly recommend getting one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rock-Band-Drum-P...3A1|240%3A1318

Because otherwise the pedal flexes slightly if you press on the ends, and
will eventually crack/split.

I also did the 'felt mod' to my drums to make them quieter.
After doing both of those, I don't think I would bother upgrading.
( Although I did eventually get the goodwood kit )

Why don't you like the wireless?

And yeah, the RB1 drum kid was junk...my friends was destroyed in like 3 days.

If something doesn't need to be wired, then I don't particularly care for it to be wireless. Just another thing to chew down batteries. Not a big deal, just imho. I wouldn't mind so much if rechargable batteries didn't drain down so fast (even when you aren't using them). I haven't been constrained by the wire lengths.

I wouldn't say the RB1 kit is junk.
If you destroyed it in 3 days, I don't think any of the stock kits will surive.
In the end, they are still plastic toys.

I went to Walmart and they had the Rock band 2 drum kit there so I got to bang on it a bit. It's nice. The heads have some rubber on them, so you're not whacking plastic directly. The demo box had that 'auto drum pedal' action, so I wasn't able to see how the pedal was made.

I have to say, playing a normal kit gave me new appreciation for the Goodwoods. The Goodwoods have nice rebound, so you don't get tired nearly as fast, since the sticks bounce back up (rather than you having to lift them yourself).

It will never happen.
If Activision had their way, the RB guitars would not even work with GHWT.

I guess the cheap way and to have RB drums since GHWT drums aren't reliable is to:

Buy Rock Band 1 kit to use drums and 1 guitar in both RB's and GHWT
Buy GH3 with guitar to have 1 guitar for GH3 and Aerosmith
Buy GHWT guitar to have game and use in GH3 and Aerosmith and RB's 1 and 2
Buy Aerosmith game only

Good lord, you are going to buy all 4 games then?
Isn't that a bit much? And where does rock band 2 fit in your equation?
You can buy instruments by themselves, including the RB1 drums.
The GH3 guitar works with GHWT, btw.

Yeah I would use the GH3 and GHWT game's guitar for GH3 and Aerosmith. And I'd get RB2 game only and use RB1's guitar and GHWT's guitar. It's so complicated since GHWT's drums suck. I'd eventually get all the games since the prices drop. The other day GH Aerosmith was $9.99. I basically did this for equation purposes. Probably RB3 will be usable for all of them.

Circuit City had part 1 on sale for $17 but it is out of stock. I went to the store to get one and they sent me to another store. However they fucked up and after an hour of back and forth I got part 2 for $17. Of course waited the whole time with my 2 yr old sleeping on my shoulder. Yeah my biceps are sore.

Oh and to answer my original quagmire from above, I ended up doing this.

GH3 - $20 at Target
Nyko Frontman guitars - $5 x 2 at Amazon
RB2 - $17 at CC

Can you use 2 mics in these games? How does it work? Are there 2 rows of vocals on the screen?

Do any of the instruments come with the USB hub? If not I'm eyeing the Nyko PS3 one.

If you have a PS3 or 360, just borrow someones RB1 disc and transfer the songs for $5.

You should be able to use any USB hub. I think some instruments do come with one, but I don't know which ones.
