360, PS3, PC: Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim
So I'm level 14 now and I've been working up my levels instead of pushing ahead with the story, and the fourth dragon I killed (at the burial site, I killed two others outside the plot) was a total pushover. He barely dented my armor. I have steel armor that I've improved and some weapons that I've enchanted, I think my total armor is like 99. I've worked up my smithing skill by making a whole bunch of daggers and leather grieves. Now I've started to sneak around and pickpocket random people in town to work up those skills. I think I'm going to rob the store and then sell the stuff back to him.
^ I noticed that when I was playing Oblivion, and in Skyrim I'm really strict about not talking to people passing by and finishing quests ASAP. I used fast travel all the time to complete quests, it really cuts down on the side-tracking.
I hate it when I go "OK, I just want to sit down today and just try mixing this health potion". Two hours later I have to stop playing and I just finished two side-quests, and I still haven't got around to mixing the god damn potion.

so Im level 14 now. Killed 3 dragons. Got a ton of side quests done. Need to start working on the main quest a bit more and some of the college/companion stuff
An hour in this game is nothing, walking from one side of the city to the other can take more than that.

Did anyone here get really deep into armor making? I'm at level 50 now and I plan to go to the top ASAP. I found an ebony armor the other day, but it's a bit disappointing because it has the same stats as my souped up steel armor.
Yeah, I have all Daedric Armor/weapons (legendary). I leveled up purely by hunting for animal pelts/fur then converting that to leather and that to leather gauntlets. It was actually the most fun I've had in the game. It was cool just exploring the environment instead of "fast travel to 'X', do 'Y' and fast travel back to 'Z'".
There is a downside to this though. Now I have the best armor in the game. The only way for me to get better armor/weapons is to remake all the armor but using potions etc.
Now I'm gonna start enchantments and such.

Oh cool, so you're basically way ahead of me on that path. What about the ore/metal you need for the Daedric stuff, do you buy that or find it?
And what type of armor requires the dragon bones/skin? Is that stuff good for anything?

I both mined and bought the ebony ore/ingots. The Daedric hearts I either got from killing Dremora or finding. Here is a bit of help:

The dragon scales/bones can be used to make either dragon plate or dragon scaled armor. Dragon plate is a heavy armor, but in base value weaker than Daedric armor. Dragon Scaled armor is the best light armor you can get from as far as I can tell. Here is a little info about that:

Have fun! The only problem with high level armor (like I stated before) is that it makes looting pointless as you won't find any armor better than what you already have.

This game is awesome. I never saw this thread when I was playing Skyrim, well...because I was playing Skyrim. I got everything to level 100 and my char was level 81 I think. I spent wayyy too much time playing this game. I got really into armor crafting and making the strongest possible armor sets with the highest enchantments. I got a bow to like 1800 damage but once you go over 1000 the stats get messed up and it just shows 100 or 180 in my case lol
Anyways now every RPG I play I compare to Skyrim, and nothing compares. Currently playing Dungeon Siege 3 that I picked up during last weekends steam sale as I wait patiently for D3.

anybody else still play this game? About to get my copy since my fiancee like's RPGs. I don't like RPGs and this one might change my mind due to great reviews of Game Informer and everywhere else.
I don't play it much anymore. After getting the best armor, I kind of lost interest. I may pick it back up eventually, but there are more interesting games to play at the moment.
I think I only got a few missions in to the main quest.

Ok Im reviving the shit out of this thread right now.
My buddy finally purchased the game, I know right, and has been asking me for a lot of advice as he starts playing. This made me start thinking about the game again and so here I am playing it again.
As any elder scrolls game I have played through a couple times with a couple characters.
This time I am going to play as Breton Arcane Assassin.
Basically an assassin that will later in the game conjure a bow vs using any real weapons. Once I get my conjuration high it will idealing be conjuring deadric bows and 100 deadric arrows every time the bow is conjured. This with a little big of illusion for invisibility and silent casting.
Right now I am working on my bow skill. I need to put some more into my archery then I will start focusing on conjuration and illusion. Once I can conjure a bow at half magicka Ill focus on illusion until I have silent casting then back to damage/stealth perks.
Anyone else still playing or starting again?

I still play occasionally (never saw this thread before today) lvl 55 last I played. Main quest complete, most guild quests complete. Mostly just side quests & levelling up random skills now. Still fun, but relatively easy.
Have this in my 360 and play when I can. I started over so I can do more side quests/level up before meeting big bad dragon. I think I'm in the lower 20s level right now, it's been a couple weeks since I've played.
(will prolly do the same with Assassins Creed III when I get done/tired with Skyrim)

My game is set up to auto save every time I wait, enter/exit an area, and every 30 minutes when I pause the game.
Anything advice you guys suggest that may not be common knowledge.
I started using a lot of alchemy and i have really seen a different in my wallet as well as the damage I can deal with poisons and other cool effects like paralyze and slow movement.

Ah shit that sucks. PC PS or XB?
Almost to level 30. Finished Companions only. On my way to having an over powered character once again but I need to start focusing on light armor so that will give the bad guys a chance to level.
What do you guys do follower wise?
I had Lydia for a while... but I swear that whore is fucking my House Bard when I send her home to act as House Carl. Dumb slut. So I figured Id start walking around with Aela or that Dark Elf from the Drunken Huntsman... in reality I realized Lydia is leveled to when you find her. You can upgrade her equipment but her level doesn't move from the moment you get her. Fuck that.
Did some quest Ive never done in all the hours I have played (Dawn Star Nightmares) so now I have a new mage follower Ill use as cannon fodder until I know who I want for good.

I want to play it really badly but I can't motivate myself to play it.
I think abut it...and it's just so big of a game I feel overwhelmed. And I don't want to start over with crappy weapons and armor.

I started over because I was bored with my file & accidentally saved over the lvl 58 I had
Back up to 55 now & I think stronger than I was in the last file. Running out of things to do now, main quest complete, pretty much all guild quests complete. Just picking up random side-quests & occasionally finding a new place to explore.
Also saved at the first opportunity on the new file to avoid all the intro stuff if I decide to start over again.

Skyrim's pretty open, I always end up as some form of sneak/archer/one-handed weapons, so don't know much on the magic side. Upgrades/crafting new equipment are pretty easy, a few materials & a workbench; tougher in the beginning since you don't have a place to store it all.
Fighting is live-action, random encounters in the world.

I feel like I'm playing Metal Gear Solid set in the middle ages when I sneak through dungeons.
