AMD Phenom X6 II @ 3.00ghz

Radeon HD5770
dunno which HDD, probably not the fastest one out there, but above average?

you know I was surprised that my computer ran it this smoothly. I haven't messed around with the settings yet but on auto, it set all or almost all of the sliders to high and AA was at 16x. It's not ultra or anything but damn it still looks good.

You can run it on high? That's not bad at all! Ultra is almost identical to High by the way. I can run on ultra pretty well, but for multiplayer I put it on High just in case there is some intense action.

I forgot one thing - haven't played on multiplayer yet, so yeah

It's buttery smooth on campaign, but ehh.... might have to drop some settings for multiplayer. I'll try and let you know how it is on one of those 64 player maps when vehicles are in play.

Squad Rush is RIDICULOUSLY hard when you don't have a squad you regularly play with.......even more so when random people you join with do not have mics

like Mizouse said I don't think you'll like it. AFAIK there isn't a FFA mode.... is there? I haven't had much time on multiplayer but it seems like sticking with one, two or more teammates is a very good idea.

This one is much different then the older BF games, the old timers don't seem to like it as much but IMO it's better. I havent played either Bad Companys but I did play some BF2, Modern Combat and 1943, and the infantry fighting is sooooo much better.

You really have to try it out, I've been hooked since I bought it. It's the perfect shooter (imo) COD never really did it for me.

I really liked Call of Duty.... but I've been playing their multiplayer ever since COD2 (2005) so with basically the same game engine for that amount of time.... yeah. I loved CS but burned myself out on that too.

Plus, guns are supposed to have recoil.

wait, are you saying the guns don't have recoil in BF3?

well I guess I remember sniping in BF2, where it wouldn't move at all. hey, it made it easier to snipe.

They do in BF3.

see: ACR in MW2. Might as well be firing a laser or something.

Probably just cause I'm a COD hater now. Too burnt out on the game, been playing it online since COD2. Same engine too cause I went from COD2 PC to COD2 360, to COD4, MW1 then MW2. Please, no more.... no matter how good something is, it will get stale eventually if its just the same crap over and over (maybe that's why I'm an iPhone "hater" now too)

In reality I didn't really care about those nitpicks. But now I'm biased and thus I'll use whatever I can

Yeah, I used to play all the COD games, but then they started being boring and pointless, plus I like how at least some people finally realize you can't just camp and snipe all game. Also, it is always awesome playing Conquest.

Rush is another beast though.......I just started playing more of it and it really sucks when people don't realize you actually have to attack or defend the MCOMs and not just pick a cliff and snipe.

yes exactly how I feel about COD.

And WTF with them using the same engine since COD 3?

I was looking at the multiplayer trailer for MW3, swore I was looking at MW/MW2 game footage

^yep. exact same thing I was thinking..... but with new guns. Whatever works I guess, I'm sure it'll be a fun game still.

Anyone else get steamrolled really badly in the beginning only to get better over time?

Not like it would have made a huge difference, but it's awful when a flashlight or a laser sight is on me and I can't see crap. I just try and aim in on the center of the light and shoot.... sometimes it works, most of the time I respawn

haha yeah i started out really bad but once I learned the maps, it got fun and awesome.

I don't like using flash light or laser sight cause they are more trouble than benefit, but definitely hate it when flashlights are on me......but like you I just spray at it and sometimes hit, sometimes miss..or I just fire a grenade/rocket/grenade launcher at it

and yes Conquest is where it's at! Brings be back to BF1942

Yeah, i have a Phenom II X4 overclocked to 3.7GHz with a 5850 and High is just about right for multiplay. Still some moments of choppiness but for the most part it has not hindered my gameplay (~1.8-1.9 KDR and at the moment 329 SPM)

what's your soldier name in battle log? mine's the same as my azine name.

Seriously, it's ridiculous. I've played every COD since the very beginning and after being loyal for all these years I'm totally over it.

It's nice to be rewarded for playing tactically rather then having the spawns flip on you or with a knife to the back from some guy running around with lightweight/commando. Plus it doesn't boil down to who saw who first, and all the guns don't shoot laser beams.

I really need to stop opening this thread. I get a sudden strong urge to play Battlefield and no homework gets done.

I'm not sure if I already said this here, if so I apologize:
If you need some practice flying jets or whatever, try the server "the beaver lodge".

They have you spawn one at a time, and the servers normally only have about ten people at any given time. The map cycle purposefully picks maps with a lot of vehicles. People will shoot you down and kill you etc, but no one will get mad at you for dieing (or flying into a mountain/ocean/randomtowerinthemiddleofthemap).

I'm starting to get a feel for this game. I just have one question though.... how do you do the stealth knife kill? Do you have to have your knife out or... ? And do I hold the melee button or the fire weapon button? Seems like you gotta be behind the guy, but I tried it once while I had a gun out and my soldier just slashed the air.

Also, any way to change my weapon loadouts without joining a server? Once I'm in a server I tend to forget to modify my weapons

I'm on PC

^I'm on PC. There isn't a main menu... is there? I can't find a customize option.

and I take back what I said. This game isn't really realistic. Defibrillator to bring people back to life basically? but still, it's a very welcome change of pace for me. It's much harder to steamroll people like in COD but I like the teamwork aspect. No way you're downing a tank or an aircraft on your own. Can't take a capture point on your own, no constant nade spamming (though I need to try out that mortar....) also, wtf is with the DLC right off the bat next month? $15 for the 4-map pack with some reskinned previous Battlefield maps?

Spawns can be god awful in this game too. It's to be expected but it's no fun getting blown up by a tank immediately as you're spawning. Still better than no scoping across the map and getting a kill, map packs every few months *knock on wood*, winning/losing one-on-ones based on who has host, ridiculously OP killstreaks, etc.

I may still give MW3 a shot. I suspect that game has drained me already though

stealth kills only work from the rear-side or the rear. Unfortunately it takes too long, and I got killed once while the animation was taking the guy down. If the guy's facing you and you rush him with a knife more than likely he'll shoot you dead, and there is no stealth takedown animation for frontal attacks for obvious reasons. This isnt like BC2 where it's a guaranteed kill from any direction.

You can capture a point on your own as long as there isnt an enemy unit in the area. As more enemies spawn in the area to defend, you by yourself will fail to capture it. It's based on the # of enemies vs. friendlies in the capture zone. I've captured points by myself plenty of times. Just flank the main battle and capture a point when the enemy forces are bunched up defending something else.

As far as spawning and getting killed by a tank, dont blindly spawn on your squad mate if he's taking fire. It's as simple as that. If you spawn into a hot zone you may not survive.

Defib doesnt work on everyone. If they have a skull/crossbones i believe you cant revive them (i think this happens for knife kills and head shots like in BF2). If they have the defib symbol then you can.

btw the DLC was free for those who pre-ordered. Dice already said it would be $15 for those who didnt. Got my preorder for 41 bucks on Amazon so I cant really complain. Karkand was probably my favorite map in BF2. The whole purpose of this DLC is to port BF2 maps to BF3.

No main menu, no way to customize anything out of game. This is a pretty large topic and DICE is aware of the demand for it. It just comes down to if they want to/have time to take the time to fix it.

I'd guess they did it mainly to rope people (like me) in to purchasing the limited edition. This map pack comes free with it.

Still better than no scoping across the map and getting a kill, map packs every few months *knock on wood*, winning/losing one-on-ones based on who has host, ridiculously OP killstreaks, etc.

You just have to be watchful before you hit the spawn button. You normally can see the area roughly around where you will be spawning, make sure there isn't a firefight going on when you hit the button. With that said, it will still happen from time to time.

What I'm more concerned with is joining a game with 3 seconds left. I can't tell you how many times I've "lost" a game because it ended as soon as I joined.

I may still give MW3 a shot. I suspect that game has drained me already though

On ps3 version there is a menu that you can customize your soldier there.

The limited edition costed the same as a regular version. In fact you couldn't preorder a non limited edition.

I guess they just did it to entice people to preorder.

I'm getting so good with the helicopters

I'm almost at guided rockets.
I learned there aren't anything like hellfire missles

anyways pretty awesome taking out jets and infantry w/ the helicopter. Tanks I can't seem to kill cause I keep missing w/ my rockets, usually I just disable them.
