Ya, that mission was bitch. I must have tried it 8 times before I passed it.
The collector particle beam is a tremendous asset. I used the beam to destroy the Scions and the Harbingers, and that was the easy part. lol The husks are super annoying and they don't die very easily. The cloak and running backwards, FTW.
The Praetorian is hard as shit because he tracks you. If you have any of your particle beam left, use it. The cloak is a huge help against him. Just pick away at him with disruptor ammo and your hand cannon. When he gets close, use your cloak and sprint to the other side of the area. Wash, rinse, repeat until done.
BTW, there is another mission with a Praetorian and some other assholes that is even harder than this one.
@ Praetorian being in FF's dictionary.

see the article on yahoo this morning about all the people with SD T.V's bitching about "not being able to play the game"
if you have a $3-400 xbox, and 10+ games at $60 a pop.
i think its time to at least buy a small HD television and quitchabitchin

I've got spurs...
I beat Horizon relatively easily actually.
There is a specific mission you have to do after being called to talk to the illusive man in the com. room that was ridiculously frustrating though.
Kinda spoiler: You have to go on a collector ship. As you could guess, can get pretty difficult. There is a specific area where I must have died 10 times.
Man, I'm really getting tired of having to scan these planets. It just takes too long! I wish there was another scanner upgrade.

Drifting
I wonder if it's randomized. I have no trouble getting EZ, but I'm constantly in need of platinum (or whichever the 3rd one from the left is on the scanner).

I actually haven't finished Horizon yet or done that mission with the Praetorian, I forgot that I had to leave right after I made my post
I'm playing on a SD TV.... MW2, ME2, FM3 all work just fine

oh and when I scan planets for minerals what I do is I just hold down the trigger and move both the analog sticks to the right. I watch the graph to see any notable variations (at least two 'lines' above the bottom) then feel for any vibration. Then once I scan a whole row, stopping at the market where I first found something with a probe, I go down a couple squares, while overlapping the previous row just a bit. I can usually scan a whole planet that way without losing my patience or having to comb over a 2nd time before it gets Depleted.
Chances are if your controller doesn't vibrate and/or the graph doesn't go all that crazy, it's not worth wasting your time for it anyway. Moving both analog sticks in the same direction is a lot faster, and is less hit-or-miss than what I used to do, which was tapping like someone else mentioned.

I finally started finding some EZ. I have almost 20K now.
One thing I wish I was able to do in this game is upgrade my squad member's abilities when I am on the Normandy. It's a slight hassle to have to wait until you pick a member for the mission in order to upgrade them.

So I finally got a message from the Illusive Man about finding a ship disabled by turians....
[I got on-board and this thing reminds me of the Flood ship from Halo 3. Gross... anyway I'm at the point where I choose advanced weapons training. I chose the Widow for my Infiltrator. What did you guys get? I was going to get an AR, but I don't remember using an AR as an Infiltrator in ME1 was all that good even with Spectre training]
Can't wait.... you guys mentioned this mission was difficult earlier

What level are you guys playing on? Veteran? Insanity?
I am doing Veteran now. I am going to play it again on insanity after I beat it this go round. I can just imagine how tough some of the missions would be on insanity.

I just remembered, when you upgrade "Advanced Training" on the Normandy to learn a squadmate's skill, can you learn multiple ones? I only have the Inferno Grenade since that was the only one I could research at the time, but meh. Also looks like researching again won't upgrade it, you have to use skill points...
#56
You can do that upgrade multiple times, but each time it will cost you 5K EZ. Whatever squad points you used on the current one, will transfer over to your new ability.
I used to have Slam, but then I switched to Neural Shock. Neural shock is great fun on any organic enemy.
My next upgrade will be to the Justicar's power, whatever it may be.

finally beat the game. What a crazy story.
So, as for the final mission, for those who beat it....
[What did you do with the Collector base? I meant to keep it for research because who knows, it might be useful. But I'm Paragon and most of my actions are Paragon (only have Renegade filled up to a little past the 1st mark) so I accidentally went up to the "Paragon" option of blowing that shit up and pressed A out of muscle memory, I guess. Oops. Oh well, everyone seems to agree with me though. Starting a Vanguard playthrough after this
Everyone ended up surviving, mostly because I cheated and searched ME2 forums on how to keep everyone alive, heh. I also thought it was funny how EDI and Joker refer to each other differently now]

For anyone else who's played as a Vanguard, what did you ultimately end up with?
Claymore? or Assault Rifle? or Sniper rifle? Yes, I cheated and read ahead again

Costco- What level was your character when you finished the game?
I just finished the reaper IFF mission and I am only at level 23. I beat ME1 at level 43.
I've done all the side missions and assignments. Are there a lot of missions after teh IFF mission?

I got too lazy to scan all the planets and I didn't have every single weapons upgrade.... but my hint to you is to get every upgrade for the Normandy. Also, make sure everyone is loyal. It's best to do all that before the IFF mission btw
The IFF mission is basically the 2nd to last mission depending on how much stuff you took care of before that. Basically you should have had all your characters loyal by then, because I'm pretty sure you know what you have to do afterwords.
Just checked.... my ME2 character ended the game at level 26. Apparently there's a limit to how high your level can go, which is 30

I think the card is just access to the Cerberus network. I put in the code and eventually it gave me access to the Cerberus armor (ugly IMO) and later I got the Eviscerator shotgun which is like the Claymore, but better.
oh and here's what Tali's face looks like

^technically there aren't any "spoilers" but its best if you finish the whole game to understand. The Harbinger one made me cringe in pain from laughter

I have all the downloads. Zaeed mission, Normandy crash site, and a shotgun and armor upgrade.
I only have one mission left now and that is to go through the Omega relay. My character is at level 24. I don't see how it would be possible to get to level 30, unless you get more XP based on what game difficulty you play on.

i dont remember anyone saying you could, but shes coming on to me really strong lately... or does she just continue to do that?
she said "i know you'd be there to catch me if i fall"
i said something to the effect of "i'd do more then catch you"
and she said "now thats sounds intruiging"
next time we talked she said" i hop i wasnt too flirtatious last time we spoke"
and i told her " i dont have a problem with it if you dont"
so im guessing i can bang her? no? lol
#76
I was stringing along Miranda, Kelly and Tali for a while and even Jack was interested towards the end. I think after the last mission you are free to go wherever and bang all of them, but you can only "be with" one of them at a time. As long as you choose the flirty lines in dialog, they should be interested.
Also, if the IFF is installed and you already took the shuttle:
You need to go to the Collector base ASAP. If you do any loyalty missions or any missions in between your crew getting kidnapped and going to the Collector base, then you won't be able to save them all. You can still roam around and scan planets, but if you do any missions that involve getting experience, then yeah...
It's a shame about Jack though. She has a pretty face and I dig rocker chicks to a certain extent but she passed that line a long time ago. I think you can pursue a relationship with her if you want, but instead I just banged her to see how crazy she would be.
oh and I didn't find out yet but I read that if you pursue Kelly:
She doesn't bang you, but she lap dances for you and feeds your fish (lol)

^yeah that's fine. As long as you don't do anything after the IFF is activated.
For Tali's loyalty mission.... I want to bring along the Geth it's going to be pretty funny. There's a specific sequence of doing everything though if you want everything to go smoothly and still have everyone survive.
