16:9 format on PS3???

I have a few games that I cannot play in full 16:9, I need to play it in 14:9 to get the whole view b/c if i zoom into 16:9, it cuts off some of the edges...is there a way to set up the ps3 to play everything in the regular widescreen format? I know some dvd players can be set up to automatically pick up on the widescreen to fill up the screen perfectly in proper ratio...do I need an hdmi cable to get the ps3 to do this or can it be done in settings? If so...where?

i take it you're prolly using an hdmi cable and not a component cable? i can't ever get anything to work in widescreen mode...

Most likely you are experiencing overscan issue. I dont have that issue with the PS3 we have @ home. Using HDMI

maybe you have a bad video setting? if you press and hold the power button when you turn on the PS3 after a few seconds it will reset it to 480i

nah...that doesn't work...if i have my tv in the the most accurate setting (widescreen, not 16:9...I'm not sure if all tv's use those setting names, but philips does...) then the ps3 stretches everything out...(is that what overscan is?)
