theres this one guy with a jetta not sure which one but its a 4 door and he claims that his car would beat mine, but we've not had time to race yet just wanted opinions. i have a stock 2001 CL-S auto and lets just say his is the vr6 or 1.8T whichever is stronger with a chip who do you all think will win? CLS or ...?

jettas are very heavy, you will win, they run like in 15s, unless hes hiding something, or you cant drive an automatic, i would race him, give back results, oh ps i think this kinda question supposed to be in street encounters?

o really sorry im new here but i havent encountered him yet so thats kinda why i chose to post it here but if im wrong ill know next time. yeah he said he had a chip and he's willing to race highway vs my 260 horses so im like

yeah, but say he has a 1.8T and has replaced the turbo and done a little work on it. then you might be in for more than you bargained for. I have a friend who owns an Audi A4 1.8T which aren't very quick either. He replaced the turbo and did a few other things and now he's running to 60 in 5.4. So, you never know. But if we're talking stock against stock, you should take him down.

how do you know how fast he runs 0-60?

He's takes his car to the track a lot, I assume he had it tested there.

naw i know the jetta isnt stock but dont think he did turbo work or he prolly would have bragged about it. he did however say he got a diff chip installed. lets just say he didnt replace the turbo just the chip mabey all the bolt ons and its a standard vs my stock cls auto.

Not a chance. Unless he has changed cams, turbo stage 1, exhaust, chip, headers and even with all that it would only a close race where he will get to hang with you. If he has modded above a turbo stage 2 or 3 you could possible lose because at that level those cars can produce 225 to 240 at the wheels. Also a R32 Golf which has 240 hp runs 0-60 in 6.4 and 1/4 in 14.9 and does are much faster than the 1.8 t with 180Hp.

Definately wont have a problem with it. My cousin raced his Type S against the whole VW line in one night and didn't lose once and he's rollin on 19's. He has headers and a intake but stock wouldn't make a difference.
