Arrow Hello 3.0 Owners

Hey guys. I have read a few things on here and most of you guys seem to be pretty cool.

Just so happens I have a friend with a 1998 Acura 3.0CL.

Now I know how annoying it can get when someone posts a "Can I beat" thread. We get them alot on f-body websites.

Well I finally got him to race me. He is kind of an ass is really stuck up abhout his 3.0 because he beats ricers around her all the time. He figured it wasn;t worth his tim to race my 97 Camaro V6. Well we raced from a dead stop. Unfortunatley for me it was wet. We both spun until damn near 40mph. He then did get ahead of me by a car, I then pulled it back...and just at teh end of teh race he pulled a car on me.

I then later found out teh place where everone races is DAMN NEAR 7 TENTHS OF A MILE.

I want to race him again because I think it will be damn close.

Considering My car has 200bhp stock, and his has 200bhp stock it would be ery close. I think I have an edge on him having 30ft/lbs tq on him though.

My Mods:
SLP CAI
Better plugs and wires(if it really matters)
MSD DIS-4 (which has been tested to get .2 consistently)

His Mod:
Dragon Intake

I have looked around and can't really find any times for the 98 3.0CL.

Have any of you guys raced a near stock 3.8 F-body? How did it turn out?

I want to run him from a dry stop so I don't lose my advantage again. He was definately surprised at the outcome of the last race and now seems weary to race me again.

Anyway I am not saying my car is way faster than a CL. I am just asking for times and experiences against F-body V6's.

I also am not sure if there is something wrong with my car up top...could be but seems to be running fine.

Thanks guys and sorry for the long ass post.:P

A 3.0CL will beat a V6 Camaro from 1997. I'm showing 15.7@89 for a 3.0CL to a 16.1@87 for a Camaro V6, both 1999 models. I raced Camaro and Rustang V6s in my 1999 Accord V6 (same engine as CL) and never had a problem beating any of them.

Looks kind of like you got your info from that Car Stat website.

Camaro V6's with the 3.8 are mid to high 15 second cars. That's actually the only site where I have seen them pout it at 16.1.

16's are more where the 3.4litre camaro engine is.

If I am sounding like an ass or anything I am not. I am not trying to offend anyone. Just trying to get some answers.

http://www.ssmoparmuscle.com/speedcomp.htm

If you check that website youll see the 95 3800 Camaro at 15.7 where we run. The 3.0CL isn't on there but like with the Firebird and the Camaro, the Firebird isn't on there because it is teh same exact car, the 1999 Honda Accord with the engine out of the CL's but weighs less runs 15.8.

I am a little confused but I am gonna try to get him to race me and let you guys know how it goes. We will race the 1/4 mile though this coming time, I know where it is now! LOL

EDIT: Wrong Accord year.

The biggest thing to know about acuras is that most of them are designed to be luxury cars and therefore aren't all that fast, although with a good amount of modding they can be fairly quick.

Even with the name www.ssmoparmuscle.com I would have expected better. According to that website, the 2003 Acura TL Type S with it's 3.2L 260hp 232tq V6 is slower than the 2004 Acura TSX with a 2.4L 200hp 166tq I4 by nearly half a second.

Perhaps they tested the TL in reverse?

That site has no credibility. The times are all over the place, way too high for some cars (like the TL-S), and way too low for others (like the TSX).

The 3.0CL should beat the 3.8L Camaro, even if only slightly. However, that's not saying much. The Camaro has an engine nearly 1 liter bigger, 30lbs more of torque, and RWD. This is more proof of what I've known all along. Japanese engineering is just superior.

Hmm...wellll. I guess I will have to race him again.

I will have to egg him on to though.

Thanks for the replies.

I wish I could afford an LS1.

Thanks again and if I get him to race me again I will let you know how it goes!

Not being an ass but he wasn't racing. If it was a 3.4 then it is more believeable.

You were racing a 3.4 liter automatic camaro if that is the case... Sorry man, but I use to own a 99 Tahoe LT, same drivetrain, same truck as your Yukon and it was no where near a 15 second truck stock. Just too damn heavy.
