So my serpentine belt is brown and looks like this "brown stuff" splashed on the battery/power steering cover. I have 96,000 miles on my 2005 TL. I am guessing water pump? Does the antifreeze cause the belt to turn brown? Also, I live in Valparaiso, IN. and was wondering if anyone knew of a good, trustworthy mechanic to do a waterpump/timing belt change? Thank's guys for any imput

 

Yeah you probably need a new one, and the brown stain sounds kinda like brake fluid getting on something, check to see if your power steering pump is leaking. and as far as I know serpentine belt just runs accessories I thought.

As for a mechanic I don't know any, but I go to Joe Rizza Acura in Orland park and they have never messed with my car in the wrong way, paid 642 I think for my timing belt.
