Local shop for Hondata flash?

I'm new to the Acura scene, have had multiple Audi's that I have made minor modifications to, including chip tuning. I am looking for a local dealer that represents Hondata?

I received a quick email reply that you can purchase the reflash over the phone and handle shipping on your own. Hondata lists them as an authorized dealer.

I'm planning the ECU reflash as my first engine mod later this year.

A very odd process...

It seems so odd to me that the only way to get the work done is to ship in the ECU. What value exactly does Suja1 bring to the table, credit card processor?

Even with Next day shipping, you are likely looking at 3 days without a car. I'll have to plan it for the next vacation I take w/o my ride.

Where are you located, I'm out in Naperville, I'd love to get a ride if you get it done!

It appears Hondata's current business strategy is to work with a network of authorized dealers to handle the paperwork and payment whom probably receive some % of the sale. This would allow Hondata to employ minimum admin staff, keeping their overhead low and allowing them to focus on their core functions, developing aftermarket performance parts for Honda/Acura.
The other benefit it would seem is a quality end product as I've yet to read about a negative customer experience.

Realistically, this process is a pain for anyone that does not live within driving distance of Hondata and/or only owns one car.

I live in Chicago (Uptown) near the lake. I agree with you that 3 days is probably the quickest turnaround. I lived in the city for close to 7 years without a car so 3 days of riding public transit is a small sacrifice to boost my RDX's performance.

It would be nice to take a California road trip with sole purpose of visiting Hondata for the reflash, and Church

I noticed you have the USA Spec iPod adapter. Install yourself? If not where did you purchase it and have it installed. Cost for install?

If Suja1 allows you to ship directly to Hondata, then really, it doesn't matter what retailer we use, and could use Church or any other?

I got the iPod adapter from ipodcarpros.com and installed myself based on the instructional post here at Acurazine. REALLY easy install, it took me 20 minutes in a dark garage, would have been quicker if I could see better.

Thanks for the info re: the USA-Spec. I may have to make the iPod adapter a future weekend project.

Re: the reflash, you make a good point about purchasing from anywhere. To save a few bucks one could seek out the location with the lowest sales tax.

The ipod integration was very important for me, I actually bought the adapter before I bought the car. I have some additional nuggets of information about the install that I haven't formulated into a forum post yet. If you get the adapter before I do, let me know and I'll fill you in.
