Front License Plate- Yes or No?

Hey Guys-

I put on my aspec kit over the weekend and while in the process i removed the front license plate; this car looks so much better without the front plate. My question is this; how many of you guys in IL have removed your front plate? if you have, what type of problems have you had (gotten pulled over, tickets,....whatever). Just wondering because i dont want to put it back on but at the same time i do not want to deal with any problems either. Thanks for any feedback!

leave it on...

don't look for more attention. chicago cops when they pull you over they look for front plate. or if its parked the meter ppl check for front plate.

i say leave it on.

I agree, no need to draw attention. I drive with mine on but simply remove it at meets, I can do it with my fingers and it only takes a minute.

If you dont want any tickets or hassle, I'd leave it on.

I have driven my 2 acura cl's with no front plate now for 9 years. 0 issues so far never been pulled over for it or even warned about it. I drive mainly in the NW suburbs, but drive to chicago occasionally on weekends and drive to wisconsin etc. The CL looks so awful with a front plate, glad i dont feel forced to use one like most ppl do.

i made it one week w/o a front plate before being pulled over. and put it on later that day. just not worth it. especially if you ever drink 2 beers.

Years ago, was in an accident that knocked my front plate off. One day, parked at a meter. Came out about a minute after it expired, but I could already see the orange envelope on the windshield as I got closer. I thought, man, they're quick. Stuffed the envelope away, til when I got home, decided to look at the details - and it wasn't for an expired meter, but for no front plate.

Contested it in person and got it dismissed.

It was in Lake in the Hills. Middle of the day. No moving violation whatsoever.

I have never had one on since I started driving. My experience has been that in Illinois they wont pull you over just for that (although they can) but will give you an additional ticket for that if you got pulled over for something else. My worst was a stop with 5 or 6 tickets, the license plate was one of them.
