New. Used. Doesn't matter. Lots of great cars out there today in that price range.

miata is too small, boxster too gay (and i am a huge porsche nut!!)

I say S2000
CL-S 6 speed with many mods on it to hit the $20k mark and 400+whp

but ultimately if i had that money: E46 M3!

I have a feeling the S2000 is going to be quite popular... It's on my list, just don't know where yet. I also don't know what else to put with it.

Have you ever driven a Boxster? No one I know that has actually driven one has ever called it "gay"

I'd probably go with either:

-2005-2009 Mustang (the 2010 with Track Pack is a wonderful car but a touch over your parameters). A 2008 Bullitt can be had quite reasonably however.

-Early 911. A little pricey on the maintenance, but parts are readily available, and the simplicity and purity of the car is hard to ignore.

-C5 Corvette. Not really a personal favourite, but those who have them seem to enjoy them. A lot of car for the money, and surprisingly good fuel mileage to boot.

i'm sure the boxster is an extremely balanced car: lightweight, decent power, mid engine, etc...just not my type...also i should clearify i said my ignorant comment since its the affordable Porsche and i've seen many women driving it. i have never seen a woman drive a 997GT3RS! so relatively...

anyways...

C5 Vette - As stated by Terry, a lot of car for the money.

2002 M5 - Always been a favorite. The body style and HP (400) in a sedan.

1987 Buick Grand National - I always loved these. Could never afford the GNX, but this would do.

97+ Wrangler. With that amount of money, you could build a real trail beast.

993-series 911. Last and best of the air-cooled.

98-02 WS6.

Ah the WS6 is a good one! I would change my list to have one of those instead of an STI

Car and Driver did an article on this...$25 fun toys, had some strange things on the list:

Brand-new GTI
Brand-new MX-5
E46 M3
Dodge Ram SRT-10
1998 E55 AMG total sleeper
94 Supra
C5 Corvette
Early 90s Carrera 4

Told you it was weird personally I'd go for an S2000 or an MX-5, probably an S2k because its a looker and ZOMG VTEC

How about a mid-90s eclipse or Talon? Those things can be boosted from here to hell and back.

LOL... 94 supra is still going for 30k+ with like 100k miles.
anywho... S2K is def top of my list because its a roadster and its a fun thing to drive.
and i cant really think of anything else except for a restoration project car. like a late 60s muscle.

I just did a quick eBay search and it returned four Supra. Most expensive was $25k (with 0 bids), one had a Buy It Now for ~$24k and two are in progress... one is at $8,500 and one is at $15,200.

So yeah, looks like you can definitely find a 1994 Supra for under $30k... even under $25k.

If you were a real Porsche nut, then you wouldn't say this. You would know that the Boxster is one of the best handling Porsche's out there, and the other models which handle better cost anywhere from 4-10 times as much. Women buy them b/c it's a cheap Porsche. Men buy them b/c they know they can out drive just about anything on the road in the twisties...

As for the list... not much I can add. My list is way too long to name 3... and everything that is on my list has pretty much been posted already.

Let me know when you find either of those for 20-25k.

It appears as though a lot of folks in this thread have reading comprehension issues.

There isn't a wide variety at that price range, but it's possible:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Corve...=p4506.c0.m245

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Conve...=p4506.c0.m245

Mileage is higher than most would like (on the M)
