So you won't get any money out of this?

If they do total it, will you insurance replace the car?

I guess you didnt read the part i said about them replacing, not stretching back into shape? They replace the bent crash structure metal. Unit body cars crash structures/panels are designed to be replaced fairly easily.

Because we live in a society where everything is disposable now days and most are uninformed about stuff like this. Its like a CAI. For every one person who says oh, those arent safe you will hydrolock your motor in rain there are 1000+ who never had an issue. Once one person says your car will never be the same after an accident because they took it to a bad shop or had a bad experience it must be true for all?? Manufacturers dont want to tell you stuff like this can be repaired easily, They say see how safe the car was and how well it protected you. They want you to buy a new car so they can make more money.

Why would that be illegal? If Its a repair done to specific structural specifications its perfectly fine. That is what happens to areas of the car that dont have removable panels like front fenders and doors. It was taken apart at factory seams and put back together at the same seams.

I'm going with not totaled. We get cars like this all the time and fix them. I've seen way worse that didn't total. I could go on but Kris summed it up nicely.

I agree. Doesn't seem it would be totaled especially if the kbb is quoting 27k.

Halved cars. It's illegal if it's not a legit repair, i.e. chop shops putting the two good ends of two damaged cars together and selling it as an undamaged car. I'm not saying it's illegal if a legit repair shop is doing it through insurance and the insured knows what's happening.

Not sure if this was a serious question, but with my accident which was my fault, they cut me a check for the value of the car before the accident plus TT&L (as if I were replacing it with the same value car) less my deductible. They took the car, sold it at auction, ended the policy, refunded the prorated coverage, and I was free to do whatever I pleased with my $21,400.

Hyundais are god-awful expensive to repair because the parts are so expensive. I'd wager Kia is the same way but kudos to the Optima for holding up to such a hit. I'm betting on totaled.
