Get the XJ8. It's a nice car for the money - who gives a shit about age demographics and all that other stuff that comes with owning a nice car. The only reason why it's designated to a certain age is because mostly older people that have saved all their working lives go out and buy a particularly luxurious car like a Jaguar. Don't let that get to you - if you could afford it, go out and buy it.
By the way, whoever said that about the 550i - $1000 a month. Way overpriced.

I never did like Jaguars, they look like old people cars to me. But that is my own personal opinion like everyone elses on here. If that is what you like then go for it.
For me, if I were your age and in your same boat, I'd get something like an M3, GS430 or an M45.

Jag's for the most part are not really in demand. Hence the reason for the aggressive lease deals. Mainly on the XJ8 and XJ8L, the XJR/Super V8/Vanden Plas don't lease out that well.
If a person is shopping for a premium luxury car, looking for a reasonable lease and isn't the most picky person (like they have to have a BMW or a Merc). The Jag is a great way to go.

Secondly, the performance of the Bimmer blows away the Jag. Why lease for 24 months? Go with a 36 month lease. IIRC my dad pays low 700s for his 545i for 36 months with 0 down. BMW covers all maintenance for the car as well.
Cadillac's are luxury sedans, XJ8s are luxury sedans, the Lexus LS is a luxury sedan, as is the 7series.
The 5series has always been a sport oriented sedan, with hints of luxury.
If the 5series is considered a pure luxury sedan, BMW needs to go back to school.

So you are saying a STS is a luxury sedan, but a 545i isn't The STS doesn't hold a candle to the 545i's interior. While the 5 series is a sporty sedan, it's truely a luxury sedan. Price point and demographics dictate that a 7 series or A8, for example, has more luxury content.

The leather Caddy uses is nicer than the standard Dakota crap BMW uses in the 5series.
Overall, neither interior is all that great material quality wise.

I've sat in both cars and my dad's 545i with the 20 way comfort seats is about as comfortable I've ever felt in a car. You can adjust the seat to the contours of you body almost perfectly. The Cadillac seats have the "old luxury" feel to them. They are plush and don't hold you into the seats well due to a lack of bolstering. The 5 series(as well as all German vehicles) have firmer cushioning and thicker bolters. I prefer to be held in the seat, not sliding around, but to each their own.

Yes, the optional comfort seats are a must because the standard seats and the sport seats in the 5 series blow. I do agree though that they are worth the upgrade.
What would be even nicer though if BMW actually used non industrial feeling leather in the 5 series. The Dakota leather is simply not that nice, although durable that's for sure.

Hmm, if my math is correct, you should be 18, not 16. Better give mommy and daddy their keys back and get going on those remedial math courses.

Unless your family is loaded, this is a bad idea. And unless you own a business, leasing is a bad idea.
Move out of mommy and daddy's house... or, stop renting (whichever is your case) and buy a home. Seeing someone who drives a nice car, but doesn't own a home is just laughable. If, by some chance you already own a place, then still reconsider b/c it doesn't make much sense.
You should want to start accumulating assets and liquidity. If you're as rich as the car will show you to be... at least buy it so you own something. Sure it's a depreciating asset, but at least it's yours and you're not leasing it from Ford. Of course I'd never buy something like that myself (a 1 year old Lexus or Infiniti is a much better investment since the original owner will be the one who took the biggest depreciation hit), but hey, to each their own...
