wtf is wrong with ppl nowadays???

i have noticed a lot of ppl wanna race me recently.... and to make it worse..... they were all trying to race me in cars that ARE NOT supposed to be racing..

i had a freaking F350 HD ( one of those with 4 tires in the back) lifted wanted to race me.. huge black smoke came in to my car when he took off..

yesterday a Nissan Quest was rev at me at the light... i looked over and it was 2 guys in their 30s.... i just shook my head.

and today... an older style green Mustang GT Converitible with some ... i say at least 21" chromes that wanted to race me... and i saw he was looking at me from his side rear view mirror when he took off.

i dont street race (anymore)... cuz i go to the track but wtf is wrong ppl nowdays...

Sometimes other drivers just want to have a little fun by throttling up a little to see your reaction. I often have this happen when I'm driving the Grand National. Usually I just firmly apply the brakes, spool it up, and have it inch forward somewhat. The light turns green and we both just putter away.

At least you're not like the kid who tried to race them back with a I4 Camry.

Which is why I'm hesitant to get an S2000. There's a used Suzuka Blue one for sale, but I can't help but think that driving it would be asking for trouble. Nobody even bats an eye at my current car, and I rather like it that way.

(Anecdote: some guy was sticking flyers for a detailing shop on the windshields of the nicer cars in my office building's parking lot. My car didn't get one. Hmph.)

Lately I've been noticing a-holes in the older Acuras racing and driving like

I had one yesterday where the lanes merged, and he was a car length behind me, suddenly he guns it to get in front of me just exactly where the road narrowed.

I get people trying to race me all the time in my VW, they see a small red hatchback and they think I want to race...

It's funny though, very few people try to race me when I'm in my Taurus

Its really common for pickup truck guys to want to race in this area, its just sad. The 3/4 ton guys seem to be the worse they think they are driving sports cars are something, that or the brake and gas pedals are on/off switches there is no third choice. Either way I don't get it, just because a vehicle has a V8 and gets bad fuel economy doesn't mean its fast, my chunky car with a V6 would spank most any truck, yet I refrain from driving like an idiot.

Funny you mention this. My friend has a newer 3/4 ton that he drives like a race car. It's got Chevy's biggest motor, whatever that is. 496? I can't remember.

When you stomp on the gas the average MPG goes down to 0.

And that's why we have stupid people who get into accidents all the time to the extreme of ruining sportscars that very few can afford...

Meh. Who cares. Let them challenge you. It's not like they're insulting your mom.

Trucks rev next and behind me all the time at mostly empty lights for no reason at all. I have stock exhaust and I don't drive like idiot or a grandma.

But on the flip side...when I drove our old 03 Chevy Express conversion van w/ exhaust (5.3L v8) I use to rev up on ricerburners all the time at lights just for kicks, not to race. That Chevy Express van sounded wickedly mean and would usually drown out civics revving up at lights.

I get this all the time in my 4g63 powered CT9A IX . Just mind your own business, let them get the speeding/exhibition of speed ticket and just enjoy your day driving safely like all the rest of the people out there who have jobs, families, responsibilities, and actually care about their own safety and the safety of others.

I admit I used to do stupid shit when I was young, but know I can't afford to lose my car or get a hefty ticket at this point. It just isn't logical for a cheap thrill and ego boost.

Take it to the track. Drag racing is great, you know whats even better? An actual race track

Be safe and don't mind the idiots on the road.

Yeah well I think my friend has you beat. He was in his 86 Accord LX 5speed, which he thought was a race car, and he decided to race a new 911. It was hilarious.

I had a kid on a moped that sounded like it had exhaust try and race me in my Trans Am. He did a gay burnout and all. I laughed and just rolled away as him and his 20 other moped gang friends rode off.

Those diesel p/u's make a lot of power with simple mod's and can be pretty quick for such huge pigs.

oonowindoo, I can relate. I had a bright red Mazda Rx-7 and people were always racing me from stop lights. Unfortunatley, my RX-7 wasn't the turbo model and I was easy to beat even by minivans so I had to pretend I wan't interested in racing which IS NOT your case here.
