WTF? Bought 6/26/2003...

I took my CLS6 in to the stealership today for a 35,000 mile oil change, which happens, but then they inform me that I need a new battery. At least they pro rated it down to $72, so I had them put a new battery in also.

I've never had a battery last that short of a period of time.

But I did notice once, and only once about a month ago the the car cranked slower than normal and when it had started it had dropped the radio code. So if that happens to you, better get a new battery.

At least the timing couldn't be better. Just in time for another famous Chicago winter.

$106 and change for battery, filter, oil and labor.

Yours lasted longer than mine, my stock battery died less than 18 months after the car came off the lot.

Mine was getting murdered by the system and all the electronics. I think it was just before 40k when I replaced it with a Yellow Top.

I had a 68 Camero, bought used from a friend, and when I got rid of it, the battery was 12 years old, and still going strong!

Probably lasted that long do to a lot less electronic gizmos running (i.e. just a starter, radio, lights, and if you had it A/C on a '68 Camaro) then what cars have today to zap the battery life expectancy. I read somewhere that we'll probably start seeing cars with 24V battery systems in the future with the increasing of electrical technology in cars.

The battery in my '97 TL lasted until Fall of 2004... it was the original.

yeah, it is already happening.

some GM cars already have electric power steering. This eliminates fluid viscosity priblems in cold weather, fluid seal issues, and saves some weight (supposedly).

My car has 99k on it and a little over three years. I have XM on all the time and my gps on some of the time, still no battery change. I did buy a portable unit to jumpstart the car in the event it does have trouble this winter. Not sure that this was worth the investment, but still better than being stuck somewhere.

2 oil changes ago at the dealer, they said my battery was going south. Had not had any trouble and only 25k miles and what 2.5 years old? Dealer said hot climate (TX and OK), and low use (car had 7500 miles after a year old) can lessen battery life.
They prorated me into an Interstate battery I think. The stock batteries are low cost, I guess, just to get the car out of the showroom and on the road for a while.
