Which would you pick

2000 Maxima SE Gold with 57K for $7,900

2003 CL-S SSM with 47K for 17K

2003 Accord V6 6spd with 58K for 18K

I'm thinking of getting a new car by the end of the month, I have a kid on the way and wifey really needs a car now.

You should have one 4-door car in the family if you've got a kid coming. Did they make an Accord 4-door 6-speed?

GO with the CLS. Could not get the accord, though I love the manual, because it has more miles, costs more, and is a honda vs an acura.

stuffin the carseat in the back of a coupe would start to wear on me, but the wife still won't let me trade in the cl for a cts.

I'd go with the Maxima as well. 4-doors and they are pretty sporty and reliable. Is this going to be your car? If so, it won't be for long! Everytime the wife is taking the kid somewhere she'll be driving your car - oh let's face it you're getting a minivan!

Minivan would work.. the wifes coupe days are over.... for a kid taxi, the subie station wagons are nice to (outback, forester).

Oh, and SSM could also mean Silver Satin Metallic. Does acura call the auto sport shift mode ?? I don't know as I've got 3 pedals

You might change your mind after having to deal with car seats all the time

I was thinking SSM = Satin Silver Metallic on the paint....But he doesn't mention it being a 6speed so it could be an automatic.

I would consider the maxima due to the four doors and ease of getting your step-son and new baby in/out of the car.

You know you are probably right.

Tell you the truth I have no idea what I though SSM stood for "sport shift?"

I voted for the accord but on second thought that Maxima is a steal at $7900.

If it's just going to be a second vehicle, the Maxima is the best deal and they have a great reliability record.

I have a 2005 GTO and it can be a pain in the ass to get the car seat in and out for my daughter. That's when I wish I had 4 doors. In that case, we take the g/f's CTS

This poll doesn't make any sense. You have about a 9-10k price difference between the maxima and the other options. At least make a poll with cars in the same price range.

It might not make sense to you but it makes plenty of sense to me. I love Acuras/Hondas have had them for over 10 yrs but the Maxima is also a quality car at a good price. I am biased and love the CL-S and an Accord V6 Spd sounds like a lot of fun to drive, yet the Maxima seems more practical and not as much of a long term commitment something I would pay off in less than 2 yrs.

Sounds like you made your decision, but the poll would make more sense if you had cars priced in the same range, say a 2003-2004 maxima against the CL and Accord, then you get opinions on the actual cars, rather then opinions based on the price. :twocents:
