Would you buy an ugly car?
If you thought a car was ugly and then when you got in it or possibly drove it and thought to yourself, "hmm that's nice, the outside could probably grow on me".

I drove a MKIV GTI for 2 years, ugly as shit, but fun to drive. Exterior styling is actually a low priority for me, I'd rather have a better interior and more importantly a better driving car then a stylish car.
A prime example I think is Aston Martin, beautiful cars, without a doubt, but I would take the comparable 911 over a Vantage any day of the week. I personally love Porsche styling, but many feel it is dull, bland and hasn't changed in 30 years.

My 1988 Integra was sort of ugly to me, particularly with the headlights up, at the time I bought it, but I liked the way it drove. The Integra's looks grew on me eventually, to "not so bad even if not particularly attractive."
Hell- at least it doesn't look like a new Camry or an Aztek.

Nope... Bland I can do, ugly I won't...
I don't care if other people think... It's about what I think...
Example: While a lot of people love the dash of the current gen civic, I find it ugly...

I wouldnt buy a car that is ugly to me.
I would buy a car that is ugly to others though.
For example the E24 635csi/M6, many people think its ugly but I think its beautiful.
*edit* Damn Greenies stole what i was going to say.

I personally could'nt do it. I had a friend years back that got a suburu wrx wagon and admitted that he thought it was ugly as sin but absolutely loved the way it drove and handled.

Looks do somewhat matter to me. Could I get over driving a "so-so" car that I think might grow on me? Yep. There are lots of different factors I'd consider when checking out a new car, and all things considered, it would have to appeal to me in some way in the looks department.
But could I do that with a car that I think is 100% ugly off the bat and am pretty confident will never grow on me? Nope. It would probably so far off my radar that I likely wouldn't even take it for a test drive. One example of my "no way! never" is the Aztek. Even if someone ranted and raved about it and suggested I take it for a spin, I'd still shy away.

I think some high end cars (like the 7 Series Beemer) are ugly but I wonder if I'd buy one if I had the $$. I wonder how many 7 Series owners think their incredible car is ugly too.

as long as it isn't blindingly ugly, and offers something that no one else does, I would probably consider it. and in general I always say that interior > exterior, as that is what I am looking at 95% of the time. I am also a firm believer in not buying cars to impress girls. If they want me for my car I probably don't want them.
ie. I never thought the WRX was a particular good looking car, but for it's price, I don't think there was too much else out there w/ 4wd and turbo in a sedan. I never thought the new GTO (or the old one for that matter) was very good looking, but for the price for a big v8.....it's hard not to think about it.
but the aztek could have the interior of an aston martin, and I probably wouldn't buy it.

I have a 2008 Honda Accord Sedan. I thought it was ugly and that quality is more important than looks. It has started to grow on me. Or I just like the mods that I have been doing

I might buy a GT-R if I had the money.
I care what I think and not what others think like its been said.... I almost bought a lot of cars that got my friends saying "wtf" including my current one. I was really diggin the 97-99 Maxima SE at one point, and before that I wanted to build a 90-93 Accord coupe. Then an 05 LGT. I got criticized for being an old-man but I didn't care.
I wouldn't buy a car that I personally thought was ugly as hell though, even if everyone else loved its looks

Nope -
Cars gotta be visually pleasing to me... More classy than dramatic - although certain dramatic styling is beautiful too...
Example - to me the current gen maximas are ugly as sin - otherwise great in every department... but to me this car is just ugly and for that reason id never buy one

But you still think it looks good so that is what matters. The OP is asking if you would buy a car if YOU thought it was ugly

BTW, the Maxima and the 135 are indeed ugly in an objective sense. I think another question to ask is "would you buy a car if everyone else on the road thought it was ugly but you loved it?"

My first Avatar....
Cars which I think are ugly have NO shot.
The Maxima pictured above is an example
08 Accord SEDAN
09 TL ?????

I would if there was something else about the car that was compelling enough to own it.
I think the Prius is ugly but I can see why people drive them.
Normally, if something is a train wreck (like the Aztec) the whole thing is a lump of dogshit and not just the styling.

yes and no.
the reason i say that is it depends on how ugly your talking.
like my g/f hates the new Evo 10 said she wouldn't "rock it" i don't think it's that bad.
however quality is big on my list:
so i'd rather have a Okay looking car than a turd like a Ford or Dodge product.
however next car i'm getting probably gonna either be Euro or Toyota or Nissan product. just due to Honda/Acura's styling isn't getting my blood going.

No. It has to look good. With that said, I wouldn't say no to a 135i if I couldn't see me ''buying'' one.

I was deciding between an older mustang, SVT focus and everyone was building them nicely, but on the PT forums they all looked like crap!
I insisted on trying to build a clean example, so I did.
