Would you get a used M3 with cloth and no sunroof, with navi, if the price was Perfect??

or would you rather have a new 330ci fully loaded?

What price would you consider "perfect"? If the price is right I would much rather have the M3 over a 330.

 

Ok let me put it this way... its about 3k more for me to get that M3.

M3 all the way!!! You can custom leather the interior if you want at a later date. It will cost less to add leather to an M3 than it would for you to convert a 330 with leather to an M3.
I am assuming this is a new M3 right?

BTW: That cloth interior looks pretty damn good. I wouldn't even change it.

I vote for the M3 w/ cloth. I don't even really care about my seat coverings. My CL was the first car I've ever had w/ leather, and I probably would have gotten cloth in it if it would have saved me some $$.

 

fuck the 330 CI!!! go with the M3 who fuckin cares about leather and sunroof when you are talking about an M3 for 46 grand with 8k miles...this is a NO BRAINER!!!

 

what are the specs on the 2001 m3, are they different then the current one? Also, what is the color and pics! I would probably get m3. my vote goes to the m3.

I may be in the minority, but I would vote for the 330. I'm more a fan of luxury than performance. Plus, I would have fun modding it with cool Dinan stuff That's what cars are for. But, if you want performance, M3 all the way. Luxury, 330. I would take the latter.

I would definitely get the M3 (even with all the engine failures).....although, was the person who ordered the car drunk when they opted for cloth?

Who really cares about cloth or leather. The important thing with a car like that is the engine.

The people that are telling you to get the 330 just don't want you to blow their doors off when they pull up next to you.

i will take m3 anyway..because i love every gen of m3.. don't buy 330ci if u can afford a m3...there are hell a lot of difference.... i think u know what the difference are...at least when people comes to challange...they see a m3 badge at the rear...they are going to back off a bit haha..right...

If you're looking at a 2001 M3, there's a reason it's for sale: BMW is getting their heads handed to them because the M3 motors are blowing up left and right. Has to do with incorrect crank bearing tolerances, and motors are failing well below redline. There's a 2 - 3 month backlog on replacement motors.

It may not be such a great deal after all...just my $.02

If the M3 was as solid as the regular 3 series, I'd get one too!

Plus i hear its pretty focused on the NOV. 2001 production dates for the M3, and i think BMW is actually admiting that they have a problem. Unlike acura.

 

I've been through 1 transmission so far, and no futher problems. I love the M3 probably as much as any enthusiast, but just be careful - do a little research and see if BMW has really pinpointed the engine failure problem - usually narrowed to an engine serial # range or something that is equally clear and definitive.

One of the guys who works for me has a friend who just purchased a 2002 with SMG - 6K miles and the engine blew. Perhaps BMW has a wider spread problem on their hands...

And yes, I would buy a cloth M3 If I were buying one, I would even consider ordering it. The cloth holds your body to the seat better at the track

·M3 engine failures: His response was that BMW NA is supporting every customer with engine failures. He said that there was a post on Roadfly stating that from Customer Relations last month. M division is very aware of the problem and they are currently working there way through the engine to figure out what is causing the failure. He did mention a part, rod bearing, I think?

M specialist training for mechanics, Is there any? : Not really, but every mechanic is trained to work on every engine.

That's all I have. I enjoyed meeting him. I also told him my concerns about the engine and my reluctance of "opening her up". I told him I had just passed the 3100 mile break-in period, but was unsure of going past 6k rpm. His response was that I should have no fear at all and run it like an "M" car should be run.
