There is only one Hummer, an H1 with a proper diesel engine, everything else is a poser mobile.

What good is a Hummer without a gun turret?

The H3 is for losers and wannabes. Why anyone would buy that ugly POS is beyond me?? I can think of alot of cars or SUVs in that price range I'd rather have.

not totally...it's getting really high marks from off roaders. it's a much better off road machine than the h2.

That is a rather bold statement. Just because a number of people in this thread do not like hummers does not mean they are not being objective.

The original hummer is a totally useless on-road vehicle...of course it wasn't designed for them either...but you get all the small penis'ed schmucks out on the roads with them.

The H2...I have offroaded in one. Yes, I was impressed. BUT 90% of all H2s with NEVER see anything other then pavement...making this thing the most useless soccer mom/ rap star vehicle ever. It's too high off teh ground to load anything big into...the back opening is TINY. Its very small inside...not much utility to this thing at all. And when are in a place like LA...they are a dime a dozen and you get sick of dealing with them, and the people who own them and have no clue how to drive such a large vehicle. And the SUT model??? what the fuck is that good for seriously...you cant put anything back there...its not even big enough for me to take a dump in.

H3 more capable off-road (according to reviews) but this is logical because it is smaller. But still just as useless in a utility sense. But people are buying them... to say they have a hummer.

well i don't see many facts being used to support their dislike. blind hatred for a brand just doesn't make any sense to me.

if it's the idiots that buy them thinking they are a sign of wealth, then hate them...

so again...your complaints are mostly not about the vehicles, rather the people buying them...their lack of cargo room hardly seems like a good reason to hate a 4x4.

So, you tell me why the H2 and the H3 are better SUVs then their competitors?

I'd say a lack of utility when dealing with a 4x4 vehicle is a fairly good reason to not like the thing...

look, this point is irrelevant, most of the people in this thread and in the general hummer hating poulation haven't even sat in one and have no idea what kind of utility they offer. i didn't say everyone in this thread didn't have a good reason to hate it; at least you have some concrete reasons of your own. my point is most of the hummer hatred has nothing to do with their capabilities. it's mostly blind hatred of the brand image.

Ok...but you can't deny that "brand image" was the whole reason the H2 and now H3 were created.

I worked on a rap commercial in a ghetto in Cleveland last Oct (yeah yeah...Cleveland...but it was very much a ghetto.)

Anyway, we had to load the gear from the hotel to get it to location, and when our local people showed up ("producers", local dudes from to record label, etc) One we ran of room in one of the people's expeditions. So, on of the guys said, "Hey, our guy is going to pull his hummer up to get the rest."

I asked, "Is it a hummer or a H2?"

"Hummer."

Ok, cool I thought, should be open enough in the rear to get our shit in it.

WRONG...dude back his new H2 up...and couldnt even figure our how to fold his rear seats down. Regardless of the fact the opening in the back is too small, and WAY to high.

The H2 and H3 are all about brand and being able to say "I got a hummer"

I wouldnt rag them if they had any real purpose or utility...but they don't.

I bitch about most SUV owners (and I am one now...) But the majority of them have no use or even come close to using their SUVs for anything they were designed to do...let alone know how to drive a vehicle that large on the street (parking and even staying in their damn lane...specially in curves.)

So, tell me where would an H2 be better then say...a tahoe? an explorer? a pathfinder? In a rap video thats where...

the h3 has great ascent and descent angle ability, ground clearance, and a 4.03:1 granny gear. it's a great off roader. hardly a purposeless vehicle.

It can't do much else then that....tons of other great off roaders that off WAY more utility.

And come on...how many H3 owners do you really think will take them off road?

I mean I damn near shit my pants when the director threw me the keys to his H2 and said take it where ever you need to to get the shots...I take it off road all the time. Of course....he was very well off and collected cars...

No one really uses these vehicles what they were designed...but the Hummer monicker more then any others.

Unless you live within an hour of mountains,Hummers are useless. It was always funny seeing Hummers around Chicago...I mean those women must be serious offroaders

I honestly saw more Hummers in Chicago than I do in Colorado.

Theres a reason emergency/government agencies use H1's

H1 is based off the HMMWV, designed by AM General, and its not an SUV, its a Class III truck.
H2 and H3 were designed by GM and the main clientele are suburbanites. The concrete jungle can be harsh.

I dont even want to think what an H1 designed by GM would look like.

You realize an H1 has very little room to carry anything and the back doors (if its a wagon) probably the same size if not smaller than the H2? You would have had a better chance fitting your stuff in a H2 than an H1 most likely.

I knew it either way. I didn't have much choice.

But I posted that conversation to make the point of the brand name " I have a hummer" arguement.

Yea, people don't realize they are driving glorified Tahoes (in the case of the H2) or Colorados (in the case of the H3) and not an honest to goodness Hummer

Its just retarded when I specifically asked Hummer or H2, and still Hummer as the answer...ignorance.

I'd rather have an '06 Nissan Xterra with 8 grand in my pocket than to buy that overpriced piece of shit. We're talking more power with the V6, excellent offroad capability, and Japanese reliability. Sounds good to me - plus the Hummer got reamed by both Nissan and Toyota in a recent comparo in one of the major car magazines. I like the H2 but the H3 was a completely unnecessary vehicle for GM to make.

Hey sarlacc even where I live, the H2 is a dime a dozen. And people I know who have them or know people have them, speak so highly of them, and I'm like it's a Hummer, big deal. I'm not impressed. I first saw them at shows, then drove my friends, yes def interesting, but what a waste of money. It's not practical in any sense. Unless you like to look big. Most of the people who drive them, are like yeah I'm better then you....

So why all the hate though? It just seems like people spend alot of energy hating on these vehicles. There are other SUV's that are far more pointless. It's all Lemming mentality IMO. It's the 'in' thing to hate hummers. :ghey:

This is getting ridiculous. What are you basing you conclusions on zeroday. Everyone "hates hummers because it’s the in thing to do",………give me a break. I think most of the members at AZ that post in car talk are a little more intelligent than that.

I respect that people like sarlacc, yumchah, subinf, tireguy can say things like, "I would rather have aids," or that I would rather have gay sex (shakes head at Yumchah) etc, and not have to provide an explanation for why they feel that way. The thread was started to ask if people would buy an H3,.........THEY ANSWERED NO. Who are you to determine why they answered the way they did? I know from being around here for a while that they will probably have good reasons as to why they feel the way they do. You should too, but that is beside the point. Even if they didn’t really have a good reason, if they wouldn’t buy one,.............they wouldn’t buy one,....END OF ISSUE. I would expect someone of your age to not keep pressing an issue with nothing to back it up with other than your own preconceived notions as to why YOU THINK people don’t like hummers. Sure you are entitled to your opinion, but blanket statements like you have made better be backed up with some substance. Do you seriously believe that people don’t like hummers because it’s the “in thing” to do? You have explained your viewpoint, and it is unsubstantiated IMO. I for one find it insulting to be lumped into your broad generalizations as to why a lot of people responded in a negative way about hummers.

Also, what is this,......you are not using facts to support your dislike of hummers nonsense. If someone does not like a car, they don’t like a car. The H3 being underpowered, lacking utility, or it being ugly sound like pretty legitimate reasons to me. You may not agree with them, but if that is how they feel,…that is how they feel. Even if the only reason was because a certain type of people or group typically purchase hummers, that would still be a valid reason as to why they wouldn’t want one. It might be silly or stupid in many peoples opinion, but if that is how they feel,......"facts" don’t come into play here. Some might dislike hummers because of the type of people they are associated with,…SO WHAT. One of the reasons I would never buy a VW bug (there are a million) is because it is considered a chick car. I certainly wouldn’t want to be driving down the street having every male the sees me in it thinking I am gay (not that there is anything wrong with being gay). That does not mean its right, but that is the type of world we live in. What about posters responses is so unacceptable to you?

I respect your opinion, which you have made QUITE clear, but I disagree and think it is unfair to others. I think you somewhat, whether intentionally or not, nonchalantly insulted a number of members in an indirect way, and I didn’t react to well to it as you can tell. I am also in a very grumpy mood this morning,……please do not take anything personally. I respect you and encourage you to post your feelings and thoughts on any issue on the board. However, broad blanket statements about how we are following a lemming mentality and hating on hummers because it’s the “in” thing to do (insinuated because of context, and it certainly sounds like you are including posters in this thread) will not sit well with me, and is very rude IMO. I hope you refrain from such comments in the future or put some more thought into them and back them up.

When you get stuck behind them in parking garages...because they are too big, and the driver doesnt know what they are doing you'll understand.

Or when you are driving on the road and the H2 next to keeps coming with near misses in sideswiping you because they dont know how to keep their big vehicle in their own lane, you'll understand.

They have no purpose in urban roads...and I'm a guy stuck in the great white north too with permafrost and snow 9 months out of 12...

People who often drive them think they are invincible and become more hazards to themselves and others than if they were in smaller less "rugged" vehicles.

Back on topic, I'll pass. The H3 is on the short list of cars that I'd never consider and do nothing for me. In this category, I'd take the Xterra and be done with it.

If I truly want ruggedness and offroading, I'd take a Unimog or a Toyota FJ Cruiser...

Those trump the crap the H3 is and wishes it was...
