Is it worth I/E/H ?
Is it worth I/E/H ?
When I had a 93 Honda Accord LX Auto with I/E/H and
17" wheels I took it to LACR with 100 degrees and I think around with 1000 feet over sea level. The stock numbers for the 1/4 mile for this cars are between 17.2 - 17.5. I ran 17.8 but I heard with that temp. and 1000 feet over sea level the cars ran 1 second slower on that track so you can say I ran 16.8, that's a 0.5 faster than stock numbers and remember I had those 17" wheels, stock for that car are 14" wheels.
When I had a stock 2003 Acura TL Type S I took it to the same track around the same temp. and I ran 16 flat so you can say 15 flat, stock numbers for this cars are 14.8 - 15. Now is it worh spending mmm $1000 for .05 second faster ? I did it and I don't regret it.

lol your last sentence says 0.05s, but I think you meant 0.5s like you said in your previous sentence.
Anyways, that's definitely worth it. 1/2 a second is quite a few car lengths and it's noticeable.

I've had my AEM intake for almost over 2 years now..... just love it. I mean it was like around 200 bucks..... worth every penny, imo.
I'd love to swap out my exhaust with the ATLP one, but my car is automatic..... don't want exhaust system on automatic.

Its hard to justify that kind of money just to gain 0.5 seconds? What is that really going to do for you?? Now if you got money to burn, then by all means do what you want. I can't really talk, when I had my CL I bought the CT mufflers and an aem cai, but I did that to make the car sound nice, and it did!

I would skip the exhaust part since in most cases it barely adds any power. It's all about the sound like most others are saying. Not to mention it's well over $500 for an exhaust system. The intake and headers alone are good enough mods for that 0.5s and together they are like $300-$400 in total?

I would just get an intake and some good headers. If you want to put down some better numbers go for the AFC Neo air/fuel and V-tech controller and a supercharger. It's hard to mod a 2nd gen TL in terms of performance. The cheap mods are basically Intake, headers, underdrive pulleys, and throttle body spacers. Exhaust cost too much for the 6hp gain on average and the comptech supercharger is not only hard to find it's also very expensive. You could always go all out and do a 6mt swap and custom turbo. You could get the TL into the low-mid 13's if you tried hard enough. Maybe some weight reductions... LOL!
