Worth buying 98 integra for...
Someone I know is selling his 98 integra ls, and he asked me if I was interested in. He was going to sell it on CL for $3.5k, but he said that I can pick it up for $2k. The condition on this car is so, so. I'm thinking about using it as my DD car while I fix it up and flip it for little more.
Pros:
- I'm getting it for $1.5k less then what he is asking for
- has I/H/E, adjustable coilover, front & rear strut bar
- Volk ce28n (time attack version, but he painted white w/ some spray can paint )
- 88k miles
- removeable steering wheel
- cf hood
- 3k hid kit
Cons:
- Primer paint job
- mismatched parts (94-97 headlights, bumper, tail lights, and rear bumper)
- alternator belt came out? one of the pulley is missing.
- rebuilt title
- missing parts here and there.
- 3k hid kit
I know this car is going to require quite of work, but I'm willing to spend $1k to bring car back to good condition. I will fix all the interneral issues first then exterior issues after that.
New plan:
- sell currrent front end and rear, then buy 98 front and rear end.
- 6k hid kit
- type-r lip
- new paint job
- powdercoat volk wheels to matte black
- detail the car
I should able to finish this project by end of Sept., will be asking for $4.5k-5k.
Is this worth trouble or no?

sound slike it can be a good hobby car especially if you lie working on it, use it for some time as a beet to save miles and gas on your current car and then sell it before it hit's 100k and make a few grand on it. i would say go for it if the motor is striaght and the exterior of the body is pretty good.
the onlthing that worries me is a rebuilt title.....but then agai nif a car is over 10- years old i don't think it requires a title....i'm not sure though i could be wrong....

rebuilt title on intgras are pretty common. I'm not really worry about that part.
I'm tired of putting premium gas...although, I get 32-33 mpg on my tsx.

It sounds like way too much work for too little money at the end.
Unless you have an auto body shop or an in with one, just paint and prep will run you $1000, let alone the $$ necessary to deal with a new alternator or pulley set-up (depends why the belt came off ), HIDs and "missing parts here and there."
I'd buy and restore the Integra only if I was going to keep it.

The deal sounds good if you want to invest the time and money into restoring/modifying it to the way you expect it to be. And since it's a daily driver it'll be harder as wel for you to work on it in case something were to happen.
Of course the Integra lover in me would say buy it and turn it into a track car. Sounds like it has a good start to becoming a track car.
at taking spray paint to a set of volks.

Only concern I have is, how much is it going to cost to fix that pulley issue.
I can a decent hid kit for $130 shipped. You will be suprised how cheap hid kits are now days. Btw, this isn't some china made crap. My brother has one on his legacy gt, and let me tell you, I was amazed how nice this kit was for the price.

I'm not looking to keep this car very long. End of the summer, this car would be on sale.
You should wait and see my real project car. I already have everything set up, so I just need to come up with the fund for it.
I already found a friend of mine that is also intereted in doing this so we are going to split the cost.
How much you think this integra is going to be worth? You think I get at least $5k?

I'm sure if you fixed it, you'll get attached to it.

yeah condition on this car isn't so great, but everything is there and all fixable.
My friend just wants to buy the car and flip it right away. He also thinks that I'm going to get attached to it after what we done to the car.

I wouldn't. The profit margin is so small that you're taking a chance and assuming you'll get what you think for it at the end. But, if you would enjoy working on it all summer, putting money and lots of hours into it, and would be okay with a small return on investment -- go for it.

This would be my summer project/ little profit?
I'm still deciding if this is going to worth or not. I feel like this is going to be fun, but at the same time too much hassle.

the wheels alone are worth almost 2k already after you refinish them.
if there is no Major issuewith the car like engine and tranny. i dont see why u cant sell it for 7k+ after u get the thing back to "normal" condition.
88k for an integra is nothing. if i were u, i would keep it as a DD.
things like alternator and pulleys are really nothing with for a 10 years old integra.
If u dont want it, let me have it for 2k seriously

Engine and tranny has no problem at all. Are you sure I can sell it for $7k? I was planning on selling it for $4-5k, guess I should raise the price a bit.
Nah, I want something more powerful and rwd, like sc300. I will be moving down to cali this year so I want to wait until I move down there. I will be parting out my car end of sept, so I should have enough fund forsc300. Also, I am also selling my tsx for new project.
I talked him today, and he said I can pay him $1.5k now and pay rest some other time. My friend and I are definitely going to pick this one up sometime this week.

In theory a '98 with that low of mileage is worth 7k but being described as so-so, primer paint job and non-original front and rear bumpers tells me and everyone else the car has been in a messy wreck and that we're relying on the dubious expertise and you and whoever else was responsible from rescuing it from the junk yard to make sure the car will actualy run for any amount of time. It's worth all the trouble if you plan to use it as your own fun car but if you plan to sell it you'll have to hold out for a real sucker get anything beyond $3,000. If this realy is purely for profit I'd find a less fucked car to flip.

Sounds like it will be a fair amount of work. I would say if you are looking for a hobby car, then go ahead and get it. If you are looking to make some money out of it, maybe look at a different car.
#24
I wouldn't do it. It sounds like it will require a lot of work. nd I know as a car buyer I wouldn't pay ANYTHING over 4g for it....much better cars for the same price with clean titles

I just got off the phone with my friend's shop, and he told me that it's going cost $300 to replace alternator and belts.
I appreciate all you guys' comment.
yeah, this is more like hobby than making money.
02cl, I will post some pictures after we are done with it. I'm pretty damn sure that you will change your mind.
