Ehh, stock, the SC300 has the same design and bottom end if I remember correctly. However, the staright six in the SC and the is has Toyota's VVT-i, higher compression, and weaker internals.

it sounds like he has a mis-firing system (i.e. " bang bang" system..)

they're used to reduce turbo lag with the mis-fire, when you shift the mis-fire exhaust spins the turbo.

does he have one of those? those things are pretty rare

I thought he is running just straight pipes. Srika, does he have one of these mis-firing systems?

The stock SC300 has the 2JZ-GE engine, as opposed to the 2JZ-GTE supra engine. It is basically the NA version of the supra engine. You can either NA-T that engine, do a GTE swap, or a 1JZ-GTE swap in the SC.

I believe this guy is running a supra TT engine (2JZ-GTE) and like srika said, the 6-speed supra tranny.

i doubt its a misfiring system. its definitly gotta be a straight pipe and since hes letting it just free flow with that much power, it'll backfire like nuts. especially if hes doing 9's,yeah. hahaha it'll burst like a shotgun.

no, its not one of those fancy systems... its just a regular run-of-the-mill 1000hp Supra setup

doesnt seem loud enough at idle to be running straight pipes...maybe its just the sound in the video but i would expect a much harsher tone

yeah I don't think it's "straight pipes", in the common sense - it's probably a custom exhaust with some resonators and minimal mufflers, if any.

Yeah, when I said straight pipes its probably got a test pipe going into some mufflers. I doubt there are any resonators or a cat there..

reason I suggested resonators was because it does sound relatively "quiet"... I guess I could find out for sure.

i think there are resonators opposed to mufflers, at least that would make more sense.

that run was a record breaking world attempt. The most amazing thing about the run is that it was made on a stock block/head. Yes that's not a typo. So it broke two records I'm sure: one for the quickest SC300 in the planet on all 3800 pounds, and another for the quickest stock engine run. The engine is the same that came in the Supra Turbo and is probably pushing close to 900 whp. The backfiring you see is from the AEM 2-step to keep the turbo spooled. All he has really is the new Sound Performance turbo-kit, their world renowned Intake Manifold, and the AEM engine managment/standalone for the engine. The transmission is the Getrag V160 6-speed from the Supra; unmodified. These cars never cease to amaze me!

My 97 supra turbo was louder than fuck when i had the muffleres off of it at idle. granted it was only 320 hp and 2.5" pipe it probably would be a little louder than what we saw in the video.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the single exhaust setup better than the double for this car? I've heard that the single gets more HP than the double. Lose TQ with the single?
