umm, that really depends on your area. the police in the north bay tend to stop younger people for minor things on friday and saturday nights. no front plate, shit hanging from the rear view mirror, brake light out, tint, etc.

Yes, you can, but it's a $10 fine and as long as you aren't acting like an idiot you should be fine.

i dont have one. its a risk to take if u want ur front end to look nice. if you do take it off and plan on doing illigal things in your car, you might wanna think twice n keep it on.

I would put it back on unless you don't have front windows tinted... if you get pulled over for front lic plate, mostly likely cop will cite you for front windows tint too. I got pulled over and had 4 violations on my ticket (passing on shoulder, front windows tinted, no front plate, and no valid registration). I got two signed off (front plate and registration) and had to pay $164 + $10 for correction and still fighting passing on shoulder violation.

I was told by court click that even though officer marked not correctable for front windows tinted I can still get them taken off and get it signed off!

Haven't had mine on for a good half year, live in West LA (UCLA area) and haven't had a problem. My friend says she's gotten tickets parking on the street downtown before; but I've yet to have a problem w/ anything like that.

In any case; like people have said, if you're going to drive like an asshole and break the law a lot, i wouldn't suggest pulling it off.

I haven't had front license plates on my cars for at least 25 years and have not been hassled. Travel up and down California regularly too. Hope I didn't just jinx my streak

When I was living in Ohio last year [with my Michigan plate], I noticed that a lot of people in the Akron area did not have front plates. Most other states, especially Illinois, people don't try to screw with the front plate laws.

you might not get pulled over, as it's hard to see your front plate if the cop is behind you

but you might end up w/ a ticket when you leave your car parked one day. My friend got one a few months back.

anyone watch the clipper game when the annoucer was complaining about getting a ticket for no front plate when his car was parked? He litterally was bitching about it for like 10 minutes whenever he had the chance when he was supposed to be annoucing the game, haha.

I'm in RI where we are supposed to have one.

I didn't, and one day I drove by a cop, doing nothing wrong (going with the flow of traffic, one lane, doing 40 in a 45) and he pulled me over for it. Luckily I had just got my car back from the body shop after my accident, which I told him, and he just told me to put it back on when I got a chance.

i think its more of what other things you do to your car...i'm been driving my tl for the past year without the front plates mounted ever since i owned the vehicle and i haven't been stopped or anything...i say the cops are more busy patrolling and bitching bout more serious issues and offenses. I'm thinking they be pulling over cars loaded with some young dumb teenagers who they're all that, and with vehicles all modded out and whatnot. minor thing such as front plate mount....i don't think its really worth it.

If you're lucky, you probably won't be bothered for it at all. I drove around LA without a front plate for over a year without getting harrassed for it. My parents had the plate off their TL for a while but got a fix-it ticket when they were stopped at an LAX security screening area.

Thats interesting Travis. Its a law in mass also and I have had mine off for close to a year without incident. Been to RI and NH, and its been fine. And any of the few times I was pulled over, they have never mentioned the front plate.

The only times I have heard of people getting stopped (in CA) is because its been late out and they were young. A friend of mine did have his on the dash of his car and was given a ticket when he was parked outside his work but otherwise most people dont have a problem.

Really depends on who you run into and your luck. I've had my CL-S for 2 years now, and it's a very eye-catching color, and I don't have a front plate. Never got bothered for it. Then my parents got a new Suburban without fronts, and my mom got pulled over for it 3 weeks after she bought it.

Move to a better state I would never live in a state that required front plates, especially CA
