Why you never use auto car wash

So a friend was in a hurry and wanted to wash his car at one of those local gas station car wash's and his Integra sits pretty low, but not super low. Not exactly sure how it happened, but one of the stoppers that pop up to tell you when to stop actually punched a whole in his oil pan.

Here are some pics:

There is a reason why carwashes tell you to never take a lowered vehicle through one of them...

go back to the car wash/gas station and raise hell. tell them that he bought a service(car wash) and the car is expected to come out in at least as good condition if not better condition(cleaner) than it went in. basiscally if they're being a jackass about it tell them your getting a lawyer.

To which the car wash owner will reply by pointing to the sign that says that lowered vehicles enter at own risk. Game over.

The Laser wash car washes don't have any track to drive over and nothing touches your car. That's about the only car wash I'd ever go to in between the hand washings.

Modified cars = good luck getting the car wash to cover anything

Take his lumps, buy a new oil pan and hope that the lack of oil didn't F up his engine.

Yes, running your car through one of those monstrosities is akin to rape. Hand wash only for the TSX, with a little lovin' thrown in.

wow thats miserable

I have avoided auto car washes ever since i learned how to wash a car. I was 11 years old bitching at my parents when they would take their cars through them.

I'm simply too lazy to wash the car myself every fucking time I need a car wash......that's why I'll never buy a black car.

Winter, to the car wash.

In the end, its a car. If its your daily driver, why bother.

If its a lease, really who gives a shit.

If its purchased, you don't get hit on trade in or resale for swirl marks.

Only car I never brought to a car wash was the Viper.....for obvious reasons.

Luckily there was no damage to the motor, and he was able to locate another oil pan at a salvage yard for pretty cheap. Could have been alot worse, but makes for a great chuckle and neat pictures.

I see your point but i love having a spotless car. I feel embarrassed going anywhere with a dirty car. In the end it just makes me feel good knowing im clean.

I would still do it even it was lease or even a rental actually.

Also i would think paint condition does matter when buying used.

If there were two cars that had the same mileage and options but one had no swirls. Then i would take the one without swirls... it gives the sense that the owner cared about the car.

Integras aren't low like Preludes or 240SX, but anyone lowering an Integra is asking for trouble. I can't even go to the drive-up ATM without struggling with the buttons.

Meh i went to them also. Just gotta find one that doesnt swirl up the paint when they dry it.

Theres one by my house but after installing my new sways, my car wont fit now. They pulled the car up to put on the track and we heard a big CLANK.

I've taken my car a few times and basically I just rush to pay and get outside BEFORE the guys with the steel wool towels get to my car. The spirited ride home dries it off pretty well.

My 02 Maxima has just about as much ground clearance as my Murano. In other words, I would have no problem clearing that rail.
