Honda is resting on their laurels and counting on people buying their products based upon past successes. I see it in both their car and motorcycle business. Look how long it took them to come out with a 6 speed automatic when everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) else had them, and most are moving toward 7 & 8 speeds. Direct injection??? Hello Honda, you are supposed to be the engine technology leader.

The motorcycle side is actually worse. They are so far behind in updating key products its pathetic. The Goldwing recently got a refresh, on a totally unchanged since 2001 frame/engine platform. ST1300 - so far behind the competition it's pathetic. CBR1000RR? One of only two sport bikes left that does not offer traction control. The list goes on...

I meant that article can be found in the Car and Driver site. I was overly tired when I found the article and subsequently depressed after reading it.

What blows me away is how seduced I was by the Honda/Acura brand. I'm not sure how it happened. As a result, I've been in denial about the comapny's shortcomings. I've bought 3 Acura and 1 Honda in the last 12 years or so. Wow! I have to be aware that marketing does get to me and that I do form a loyalty so I can do everything in my power to be brand agnostic for the purpose of making a detached assessment the next time I buy a car.

So, who is going to bail out Honda? If things dont change on the management level.

Some of the article I agree with, some I don't. Honda/Acura definitely have problems but to contrast them to GM's problems is a stretch at best.

IMO GM and Detroit in general was way more lost than Honda/Acura today. Honda/Acura have to focus more on design/products and get some fresh innovation. Quality and value are still there and that's was saving them at the moment.

Well I enjoy my Honda purchase from last year. Its a motorcycle, I think the current CBR250R is a home run in every way from its ridiculous low price of 4k new. Its gets 60mpg to 70 mpg no matter how hard you ride it and has FI and looks like a 600 from a lot of angles. The rest of the bike are good, just a bit overpriced cause they dont seem to go on sale as much a Kawasaki or Suzuki which had a 0 percent loan for 5 years going.

I dont follow the cars as much.
