Where are the coupes?
For grins I just priced out a Volvo C70 with comparable options as my CLS. I love this car! $46,000
It is a nice car but 46K for 5 cylinders and 216 HP? Give me a break.
I would not consider a G35 Coupe anymore because I see them everywhere. Same with the 330 Coupe. Plus these machines are in the 40K range too.
Is the CL the last of the $32,000 midsized coupes? I'm kind of glad that I do not want another car at the moment. The CL is paid for, plus I don't want to spend upward of 40K right now.
I think the reality is that I will have to dig deeper in my pocket for my next coupe. That sucks, but so goes life.
[end rant]

Ok... this is my kinda thread.
Yep, the coupes that are out there are kinda expensive... I like 2+2 coupes (w/ a backseat), but if you open it up to 2 seater coupes there are more out there...
Here's my list (rumored future vehicles included - totally biased towards RWD):
Acura sub-nsx coupe (I'll believe it when I see it)
BMW z4 coupe (only a 2 seater)
BMW 335 coupe
BMW M2 (based on the 1 series, probably not coming to the US for awhile, if at all)
Ford Mustang
Infiniti G35/G37 coupe
Lexus IS350 coupe (rumored)
Toyota Supra (rumored)
The Mazda RX8 (which is RWD), and FWD coupes aren't on my list...
They all seem pretty pricey, and since my CLS is paid off too (w/ only 46K miles on it), I'll probably wait till some of the rumored cars come out and maybe wait some more till those cars hit the used car market
Not much out there for coupes especially if you put on some contingencies like I have (devent bang for the buck, rwd, and at least tolerable fuel effeciency)...
If Acura would come out with a rwd coupe, I think that would meet my price, rwd, and fuel needs... But I'm probably going to end up in a bmw, infiniti, lexus or mustang...
I've been toying with the idea of keeping my CLS as a winter beater and buying a older sportscar (early c5 vette, old 911, etc), but I'll probably just upgrade my daily driver instead of having to support 2 cars.

looking. If it is I'll wait to see what Lexus comes up with. Or whichever comes first.

I can't believe Acura is taking so long to bring out a new coupe. They gotta be making tons of money off the TL (best selling near-lux sedan) and MDX, and even the TSX.
Of some interest to me is the upcoming BMW/Infiniti/Lexus coupes. I always seem to go for the Acura coupes tho. I just can't justify the prices of these others for what you actually get.

Just checked out the new BMW 3 coupe online. Nice looking but not a fan of their interiors. A loaded 335 (twin-turbo) coupe will probably be over $42k.
A lot of comment at bmw forums on the 2 passenger rear seat with console (already done on our CLS) and the seat belt presenters (done 12 years on the G2 Legend Coupes).

And I agree with the interior and pricing comments. The only other thing (besides the interior) that'll keep me from buying a Beemer is that everyone who wants one that can afford one has one.
I can hardly wait to see the M3 Coupe! Wait. This'll be a good time to get a good price on a used M3! Hmmmm...
Yeah, if you haven't checked out the 3 series thread in the automotive news section yet, then you really should...
Used E46 M3's (and 330s) should be priced nicely when the new M3's debut... Same goes for used G35 coupes when the new G35C comes out...
Then there's always the internal codenamed XGA:
