Wheel almost came off...

I had a slight vibration from the drivers side rear wheel a week or so ago...
though nothing of it, its an old car.
(300zx tt if you didnt know)

on saturday night 15 miles from home it got really bad, i kept driving, and eventually about 1 mile from home it gets so bad i have to stop, i get out, look at the wheel and notice: It is missing 2 lugs and the studs have been broken off as well. The other 3 nuts were all loose and i realized that i was probably 10 minutes away from flipping over (most of the drive was highway).

i jacked the car up
tightened the remaining lugs, and drove cautiously home.

guess im lucky, got the car towed to Nissan a few minutes ago.

I was the last one to put that wheel on. I tightened in a star pattern, first hand tight then with the lug wrench in the trunk, i didnt crank on them and even thought about not overtightening them while i was doing it.

It just happens on old cars.

I remember trying a tire rotation on my first car to save a few bucks. Two studs snapped off the first wheel, so I had to pay out the ass to get it fixed at the dealership. :sillyme:
