What's this Porsche worth?

Alright guys I need some help here, a friend of mine and I are trying to sell our Subaru Outback, and this guy wants to trade. I don't know anything about Porsche's so I need some help determining weather this would be worth it or not. What do you think its worth?

Info
- 1986 Porsche
- Right hand Drive
- Clean Title
- 126k Miles on the car

Here are some pictures of it

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Most likely, much less than your friend's Outback.

As mentioned, it's a 944. I actually like 944s, and they make a great track car. Unfortunately, except for a few speciality models, they have absolutely no resale value. This particular car, a 1986 (it would have the better dash actually), 126K miles, grey market, wrong wheels, and uneven body panels is worth even less. It's worth about $3000.00. Tops. Likely even less than that.

NADA lists it as 5K but good luck with that figure
A co-worker had one Waaaay back and it was expensive to work on and slow.

Keep the subie.

thanks for the quick reply's guys, I appreciate it, the subie is valued at about 8-9k so it's probably not worth it.

I was just told it was originally a car from Europe, hence the right hand drive, wonder if that makes a difference?

If it was something far more exotic and not sold in the US, then there would be an argument for it. For a 944, it's probably more of a liability.

I thought antiques don't have to be smogged?

Maybe that's just in IL.

I was reminded of a 944 buyers guide I saw in Grassroots Motorsports in May 2010 (V.27#3) This 944 does not have investment potential. The two models that are worth collecting (according to GRM) are the 944Turbo and the 944S2.

For a rare 924/944 yes, but this is s generic 944 with right hand drive so I agree with teranfon it's a liability.

I once saw a 924GTR (very rare racing model) in the teacher parking at Univ. Ill. I was there on a visit, I was really curious into how the owner got it and into the US.

This right hand drive 944 I'd steer clear of.

A friend had a 944 Turbo S, it was a blast to drive. Great car, phenomial brakes (4 piston Brembo vented rotors on all four corners), and had the larger turbo/intercooler.

Would be a hell of a frustrating project car. Not sure if it is worth it.

the 944 has a love/hate following.

for a base model, it's not worth much. and the performance isn't there.
now if it were a Turbo S we'd be on a different ball park. (great performance and dubbed the best handling car in the world in it's time)

we've had two 944's. one turbo and one still in the works for something big..

that said, pass on this one.

What's the story with the underside of the hood looking like it was burned by fire?

I wonder if it's old spray-on adhesive originally used to affix the hood insulation.

A 944 RHD would be cool but I wouldn't mess with one.

its not worth the trade, there is a lot of rust on the car, and as others have said there could be a smogging issue with it, not worth the hassle IMO

thanks for all the help guys, we decided the only way we would trade is if the guy decided to put cash on top which he probably won't do, so on to the next offer!

again thanks again guys!

The 944 is one of the best looking Porsche's ever made IMO. This one doesn't look like a particularly good example of the breed however....
