what's the Most recognizable Alphanumeric name on car?

What do you think is the most recognizeable alphanumeric name on car. For example you say RL, and people all around will know its from Acura and such.

Acura has pretty distinctive names, though they dont make much sense but nevertheless sound cool.

Lexus names are totally unrecognizable if you dont include the numbers at the end.

Maybe I'm young. But without research deep into the internet, I seriously had no idea the older mustangs had 5.0 liter engines. It's the same as older cougars too right?

Yes, fox bodied (86-93 IIRC) mustangs came with the 5.0 as did the V8 Tbirds, Cougars, Crown Vics, etc etc...

Ford made the switch to the 4.6 engine in 1994 I believe... I had a 1994 Tbird w/ the 4.6 V8.

edit: Actually alot of the mustangs had a 5.0L before 1986... 1979 thru 1985 did too, but before 1979, they were called 302's (same size, just cubic inches instead of liters).

The original poster said "car", but the F150 has to be one of the most recognizable *vehicle* names out there (at least in the US).

Actually a lot of non-automotive enthusiasts don't know what a 911 is. They just call it a "Porsh". On the other hand, everyone knows what an F150 is.

Don't get me started

Lots of companies used to do that... it's 4.950 so if you round up

Chevy's 305 is 4.999, but the 307 is 5.0something...

(yes, the 3.2L in my car is 3210 cc or 196 ci)

F150. My mother would even know what that is.

How 'bout 300ZX (or 280ZX)? I haven't seen that posted yet. It's pretty well known.

325?

im definitly giving it up to the porsche's 911.. 5.0?? i didnt even know that was a mustang. i do know that 5-0 is slang for police.. F150 not really it wasnt until recently that i even knew it was a car. F150's are just not common at all in city areas. 300zx is a rare car, although i think everyone knows what the 350Z is.

Technically '911' is not alphanumeric. But, I'd also say M3.

You guys are WAY off on the M3, it is rare someone knows what it is when they ask me, they just look at me funny when I say it is an M3 . They recognize 325 and 330 much more. You are mixing up the general public with enthusiasts. The 911 has far more universal awareness, which I think also fits the alphanumeric definition though it lacks letter, but again it is a enthusiasts issue. I think the winner here is F150, there are TONS of them sold, more than any other vehicle with an alphanumeric definition in the US (I think) and they cross most socio-economic boundries. They are all over the US geographically, they are used by blue coller workers at work and they are used by white coller workers to pull their boat.

Just for the record: Alphanumeric = Consisting of both letters and numbers. So the 325 and 330 dont apply unless you tack on the 'i' or 'ci', which most non-car folks I know typically dont regard.

on the F150 though. More folks probably know the F150 moniker more than M3.

So then to expand on that, the 911 doesn't count.

Haha...

911T,911E, 911S or 911RS or 911RSR for early 70's...
911SC for 79-83...

I've always wanted a 911 2S (the last of the aircooled).

I would guess that SL500 is more widely known than S500.

Z06 anyone?
