What's the Difference Between a Mini-Van and SUV?

Is it the shorter hood? Is it a sliding door?

I don't know. Chevrolet has a model called Uplander that could be considered an SUV sans the sliding door.

2005 Honda Odyssey Touring minivan:

2004 Acura MDX Touring SUV:

What GM's mindset on these segments is supposed to be (nowadays) is anyone's guess.

I was going to say -- not much -- but the pictures above are worth a 1000 words.

It used to be that SUVs were based off of truck platforms (and many still are), while minivans were based off of passenger car platforms. With many newer SUVs based off of passenger car platforms, the difference has blurred signifcantly.

They are very different in terms of looks, but nowadays, with a lot of suv's sharing platform with cars, the differences are just looks.

The Chevy Uplander is a Minivan despite GM's :ghey: attepmt to raise the front end for SUV like styling.
