Looked at the bimmer and an A4.... both would've cost me more for what I wanted.
I liked the TSX better, better styling, Honda reliability. The interior layout and feel sold me on the car more than anything.

boxster would be a second car...mini cooper, no experience with them.

ehh...how is the TSX the best overall car, its too slow. Acura messed up big time by putting a 4cyl in there. I would go with the bimmer, faster, better handling, better looking and better resale. People complain that they are not that reliable, bullsh*t, the same can be said about a CL or TL...the BMW has a full warranty.

contrary to most here...i actually like the fact that the TSX has a high-revving four banger. Id go for the TSX with the 6 speed tranny. Great, all-round, fun car to drive. Then again, depends on your needs and your defeinition of fun - for me, i'd love to wind that four banger to extract maximum power out of it. 0-60 in 6.7 seconds aint to bad (motortrend figures, i think). And plus, 4 cylinders mean that it gets pretty good gas mileage. Get an A-SPEC to make the car look more aggresive and unique.

Want a V6 TSX - get a 05 or 04TL....would be about the same as a 05 audi A4 (I would think)

I'm not thinking they run 0-60 in 6.7, that would put it around 15.0 in the 1/4 mile, should be around 7.2 or so.

Personally, I'd consider the AV6. What the AV6 lacks in 'BLING' it'll make up for everywhere else.

Boxster then Mini

TSX is boring I have one in my garage right now (loander from Acura) it's SLOW!
3 series is nice, but not very exciting.
Never been a big audi fan.

My only complain abou the mini is it's FWD. A little car like that is perfect to go to work.

Why not a G35 sedan? That's one of my considerations for a new car this spring.

here is what I posted a while ago:

corning : BMW - no under steer on limit but the limit is lower than my tsx
handling: TSX has less body roll
accelerate: both car feel heavy below 2000 rpm, bmw feel more torque between 2000-3500rpm but not feeling right after 4500rpm and it rev slow. On the other hand, TSX pull away after 3500rpm and all the way to 7000rpm and it rev up very fast and very smooth.
shifting feel: no compare, havean & hell difference! how can BMW build a tranny that bad.
brakes: bmw has better brake with the penalty of tons of brake dust and tsx just give 90% of the braking power but with virtually no brake dust.
rides: Tsx feel more harsh than bmw originally but after put the a-spec on, my wife & I feel no different between our TSX and bmw.
But I have to agree with you on these:
look: exterior-BMW coupe looks very nice but I prefer the TSX look than my 3 series sedan look. Interior-TSX is way more better in terms of look and workmanship, feature wise no compare
relability: never have a car with that bad relibility than my 3 series.
cost to keep: bmw = break your wallet, actually, the labour cost and part cost are very close between acura and bmw but you need way more dealer visit on bmw than acura
size: trunk on bmw is useless, especially have the cd-changer installed.

So for me TSX is worth double the price than BMW
And on top of this, I just paid $1300 to replaced the VANOS due to cold weather stalling issue and $780 labour to replace a stupid $4 bushing on my tranny that cause my sticky 5th gear.

I'd go with the Mini Cooper S with the John Works package. for the simple reason I drove one at a SCCA Solo2 event WOW. for being a stock car they handle awesome. . Plus the heads are modified(over the regular Mini ) best of all you get full warrenty with the mods

I dunno what everyoine is talking about with the TSX, it goes no-where on the highway. Had decent pickup for city driving. But to pass anyone on the highway you have to mash the accelerator to the floor and patiently wait.

Besides that the car was fantastic, excellent build quality on the one I had. But not enough power for me.

Huh? Are you sure you know how to drive the TSX? I've driven all manners of cars ranging from Civics to Ferraris and I find the TSX's passing abilities on the highway to be plenty adequate for daily driving. Unless you have some sort of ridiculous expectation of passing on the highway, the TSX should be more than adequate (that or you just have been driving on a highway where the drivers are going way beyond the speed limit).

Same here, driven many cars. Owned a few 500+hp cars I tracked. A few crotch rockets... I use to race non professionally /w my motorcycle at the track. I know how to drive / keep the engine in the powerband if thats what your getting at.

With 4 people in the car it goes no-where on the highway, and even with 2 people it's slow. Dunno what more there is to driving on the highway than giving it wide open throttle in the proper gear? (i.e. keeping it in the powerband of the lil 4 banger)

Accord V6/TL is a better choice for a 4 door if you ask me. TSX isn't enough power to scoot 4 people around /w authority on the highway. (lol, and I don't mean M5/E55 authority that'd be a bit overkill)

Please explain your highway driving technique that makes the TSX faster.

Nothing besides keeping it geared properly. How fast are you traveling initially and how fast do you want to end up? Were you using the SportShift or just relying on the tranny to shift itself?

I tried both automatic mode and sport shift. Tried from 55mph to 80mph, and from 0-80mph (long on-ramp to highway) Speed limit is 70mph here so I wasn't speeding too bad.

I had 4 average weight people in the car while we were going to lunch... I was playing with it to see how it performed.

Maybe I'm just spoiled from my CLS, friends 330i or 05TL. Even my friends MB E230 (factory superchagred) had more get up on the highway I noticed.

I liked the car otherwise. Much better build quality than my CLS.

E230?? Do you mean C230?

I've never had any problems with power. Perhaps you just didn't shift down far enough to get into the power band.

You miss the most fun part by driving a TSX... 6sp manual. No doubt TSX won't be faster than CLS, TL, 330i, G35, C32, Mustang, SRT4, STi, EVO, M3, 911.... But this thread is talking about TSX with 325i, 1.8T, mini S... It put way more smile on my face when I drive my butter smooth 6sp manual tsx than driving my slightly faster but super sloppy 5 sp manual 328i.

yeah, I didn't get to play with a 6MT.

I was very impressed the engineers were able to seperate the engine well enough the vibration/noise wasn't very apparent in the TSX. 4cyl engines usually run a bit rough.

Hmm...dunno then. Maybe since it was a loaner, it had been beat on so badly that it was losing power.

Regardless, the TSX could use more power, sure, but saying that it's woefully less powerful than any of the other choices (with the exception of the boxster) would be a bit overexaggerated.

BMW's 325i, apart from being a fucking joke, costs more than the TL w/ nav even with less options put on than what's stock on the TL w/ nav.

Well, CLS auto at redline >> TSX auto at redline.

So I see what you're saying. Especially with four people in the car.
