I didn't mean through investing, I meant through saving. You can get 4.5% maybe on a 6month CD which is about $3200 and then save the rest. Obviously the guy is loaded, $30K isn't that much money to save when you are looking at buying vipers, espirits, and even ferraris as an extra vehicle.

I know that if I saved up that much more, I could get something else. However, if your saying that, why don't I save even more, and then get into the mid $200k range and get a Gallardo or 430??
I am extremly happy with the Viper, and very interested in the Esprit. I am not loaded, just choose to spend my money on discretionary items like cars. I already have a nice place, and money stashed away for retirement-so why the hell not "blow the money away" on cars if that is what you like??

Oh, and getting a Ferrari is just wishful thinking. I could just manage to pick one up, but would never be able to afford maintaining it.

It just came across that you really didn't like anything in the 70K range, so I was just suggesting to go a bit further. But if you are happy with the viper then there is no need for saving any more. I wasn't suggesting saving for a supercar, as you already noted that you don't want something with a lot of maintenance but you also want something that is exclusive and the higher you go money wise, typically the more exclusive the vehicle. Good Luck with whatever decision you make, I know I'd be happy with a Viper, Espirit, etc since I can't afford anything even close to that right now.

It is hard to find something "exclusive" in that price range, but the few cars mentioned fit the bill pretty well.

Ok, so for all of those who say an NSX-have you ever driven one? I am curious to see what your impressions would be of it.
I have never driven one, but am afraid that it would severly lack in the power department.
Any commentaries?

If you want something that is rare then get a used nsx. And by the way the nsx isn't that slow for the streets. It may not be fast by todays comparisons to other cars but it still is a pretty fast car if you ever got to drive one.
If you are talking about a new car then get a z06 but that is nothing special to me. It will just be another corvette with a lot of power.
Viper is a nice car and very fast to get but I see people selling those cars after owning it for a short time.
Another car to look at is the M3 which is a very nice car for the money. Fast, luxury, and looks good.
For me it would be between a nsx and m3. But here in so cali m3's are everywhere so its nothing special. NSX's you hardly see on the road and when you do see one you can't help but stare at it. Just my opinion.

Well, I decided on the Viper. Found the color I wanted and bought it for a hell of a lot less than $70k
Here is the mandatory dealer photo, I will have more when she gets all cleaned up.

NSX lacking in the power dept? not with a turbo installed, or with the CT S/C. U can get a used NSX for relatively cheap. if i had 70k to work with and i wanted a unique sports car i would hook up an NSX, but thats just me.
EDIT: just saw you got the viper, goddamn. good choice, hope the car will be somewhat reliable!

Too bad you bought another Viper. A Comptech blower on an NSX is great. Yes I have actually driven one of those. A friend of my old dealer wanted me to buy his (or at least get a buyer), so I got to put it to use for a while a couple years ago. His had around 450 hp.
Either an NSX or a used GT3 would have been my call.
