What’s the five year prognosis on these cars? Solid used car or deteriorating jalopy?

I don’t know how Dodge quality is these days. They are asking a lot of money for a car that used to be a risk.

This is actually a good question. I've always loved these cars, but never really get them a serious look for this exact reason...

after seeing ebelp have some pretty serious issues with his SRT with only 25K...
I was swayed to stay away...hard to argue the value you get though, even over the Cadillac.

No idea honestly, but I will say they seem better built now than they used to be.

In other news, I was in Norway all of last week for work. Talking to one of my colleagues we got on the subject of importing the hellcat and how much it would cost, so we figured it out... $131,000 in taxes alone!

On the flip side, because of government subsidizing and the push for electric vehicles, you can buy a Tesla for much cheaper over there with no taxes and have free electricity to charge it with.

Decided to give the hellcat a good two stage polish and ceramic treatment over the last week. Pitch black is a bitch to work on but looks amazing when done!

Today is the first day it's been out of the garage since Christmas, so I'll get some good full car pics and post.

yeah, I don't use it when the car is really dirty. I'll run it through the touchless car wash then follow up with ONR if it is.

Yeah just finished a 1200 mile round trip to PA and back with road salt and what not. I have normally always used touchless washes after coming back from those trips but I have plastidip on my window trim and worry the water pressure would take it off so haven't tried.

Quick question (so as not to derail the other Charger thread): do you ever feel 707hp is too much for the streets? (ie, just burning away rubber in the first 2/3 gears?). I know...a very stupid question to ask (more hp is usually better) but...I assume you don't use the red key all the time and/or they've got programming to limit traction issues in the first few gears? Bigger/stickier tires would help I presume as well. Though just that as I'm looking at a potential near-future upgrade in my own daily....I'd love a big HP upgrade but also worried about having *too much* hp that's not much usable on the streets.....

But of course, awesome car though bro. I've seen 1-2 Hellcats and the badging is so cool when you catch a hellcat!

There's a few DD Hellcats in my neighborhood (a Challenger & a Charger).
I'm sure it's more about right foot discipline
Similar could be said for the 2G CTS-V (556/551) and there are tons of those being run as a DD.

Nice car. Even with 1/2 that much HP in a RWD car you can do accidental 180 degree turns suddenly, if you're new to the throttle.

Thanks! Also, there are no stupid questions, I ask them all the time
1. do you ever feel 707hp is too much for the streets? Nah, just need to use your right foot wisely. With the temps in the 30s today, I was able to very easily break the tires loose in 3rd, which got a little exciting.
2. assume you don't use the red key all the time and/or they've got programming to limit traction issues in the first few gears? I ALWAYS use the red key, always in 700+ hp mode. The traction control on these things help keep the car under control pretty good. Street will control the wheelspin and fishtailing (yaw control) for the most part, Sport with allow a lot more wheelspin and loosen up on the yaw control intervention, Track is almost full disabling of assists.

I said it in the other thread, they are really tame or can be a complete beast, it all depends on your throttle control. It is heavy car so while it feels quick, it doesn't feel insano quick until you look at the speedometer and realize how fast it is climbing. It's also got a long wheelbase, which helps it maintain control a bit better than a shorter wheelbase car.

Thanks for the replies! Definitely makes sense with right foot and driving mode management.

Very awesome that you use the red key all the time though....I think if you splurge for a car like this....you definitely want ALL the hp on tap if you so choose at a moment's notice!

Looking good... And as I mention a while ago in another post, I really like those SRT Hellcat badges you put on the grille and rear...

Not really much to update other than with the power and the cold temps of late December and January the P-Zeros become hard as a rock and makes applying power, even in 3rd gear, pretty fun. Contemplating driving it to MD in a few weeks for a work trip, but if it snows I'm hosed.

When driving back from lunch today I got a red light and a Charger R/T pulled up next to me. He left quickly so I nailed it. When we got to the next stoplight they rolled by starting at me with a scowl on their faces. No love for the Hellcat I guess.

I miss it when I see them on the road. Other than that, not too much, I change my mind too often with cars and surprised I kept it as long as I did.

I've also noticed that it doesn't get the thumbs-up and compliments like Scat Pack used to. Maybe that's because all the Scat/SRT/Daytona variants out there kind of look the same.

However, I did have a guy drooling over it yesterday at the gas station. He's asking me questions about how much power it has and how fast it can go. I tell him then the rear passenger door from their car opens up and this fat chick yells out "hell yeah, let's go, I'll jump in the passenger seat and we can go up I-95".

If I was witty I would have suggested we couldn't get to 200mph with that weight load, but I just told them I had to get back to work.

What a sore loser.

It's always nice to see someone appreciate and give a thumbs up to a faster car. They probably thought they were so big and bad in their R/T....lol

I mean thing is...there's always someone who can be faster than you....instead of being a sore loser, just appreciate the awesome cars that's out there. Also in the same vein I don't like sore winners too....

the sad part was, she probably already knew with that kinda hp/torque your car COULD get to 200mph with her additional weight. She was probably tired of getting bitched at for dragging the corolla down to 15 mpg with her in it.

ahh sumbitch! Curbed my front driver's side wheel last week. Thankfully not too bad, but touching up that brass monkey paint is going to be a pain in the ass.

Dang, doesn't too too bad. Hope it can be buffed/polished out without too much difficulty.

I wonder if there are certain tires you can put on that can provide more curb protection? (I'v heard of maybe bigger side walls can help protect from curbs?)
